Hi, My bf has been having stomach problems and bleeding when going to the toilet for a while now. After visiting his GP he finally got the camera into his stomach and it revealed reflux oesophogitus and duodeum imflammation,(excuse the spelling). He was given medication for this, 2 Losec tablets a day. Just wondering if anyone could share any experiences of these conditions, and whether they got better, or worse. He still has bleeding at the toilet and i take it this is by the imflammation. He still has pain whenever eating too. Any experiences appreciated. thanks!

Arrow Re: advice

Bleeding that high up in the Gastro system should be very dark --- black and not hardly recognized as blood by time it goes through the 28 feet of intestines --a blood hemocult test is used to test for blood.

If the blood in the toilet is red then it is not coming from the stomach inflammation but more like hemorrhoids or a rectal fissure --- bleeding closer to the anus??

The symptoms pain when eating sounds like it is caused by the stomach inflammation. It is usually treated with a Proton Pump Inhibitor. Inflammation usually does not bleed -- but does cause pain.

Re: advice

Hi, thanks for your reply. the bleeding is bright red so maybe it is what you said it was. occassionaly it is very dark, not very often though and we just thought that would've been the duodeum inflammation. The thing with my bf is that he doesnt discuss these things with doctor, he just told him bout the stomach pain. typical man!!! Thanks again for the information
