    rectal prolapse/colonoscopy
    Hi, I just had a colonoscopy after complaing to my new dr. that I physically had to push my insides back in after trying to have a bowel movement. I have been severly constipated for 10 years and only have a BM while on some type of laxative. The Doc. said the colonoscopy was fine...he never asked me to strain so I could show him what falls out when I do. Wouls a rectal prolapse always show up on a colonoscopy. Should I make another appt. with t he dr. and make him look at what happens??? Any advice would be very much appreciated.

    Hi there. I hope you get this message soon. I had a rectal prolapse for 2 years before I finally did something about it. It is very hard to see during a colonoscopy. I went to the Dr. and was asked to strain so my insides would literally come out (very embarassing). I had an open rectopexy surgery with my sigmoid colon taken out too. The whole surgery and recovery was a bit painful but I can now go to the bathroom without anything coming out.
    You should definetly go to another Dr. and have them examine you. Though a rectal prolapse is not life threatening if can get worse as time goes on and becomes very uncomfortable.
