Which one should I use metamucil or citrucel to avoid constipation?

Hi Molly,
I like Equate from Wal Mart ---its cheaper and it works as well as Metamucil. But, at first it will cause more gas than Citrucel because psyllium is natrual --it ferments and releases gas at first but as your system gets use to it ---thegas goes away.
Citrucel is semi synthetic that does not ferment resulting in less gas.
Both are safe and work well when taken daily.

I too had crazy amounts of gas when I first began my fiber therapy, too the point that I didn't leave the house unless absolutely necessary, (course its not like I left the house when I was gassy and constipated either) it took about 2 weeks for my body to adjust and now gas is the exception NOT the rule, its a really nice change after being gassy for 27 years.....
So keep on with the fiber therapy it really is worth it and obviously won't do any harm... just make sure to drink as much water as possible.

I tried it twice; the first time my bowels were in such bad shape that it didn't matter how much water I drank the fiber only made the constipation worse, then I did a round of acidophilus, flaxseed and l. bifidus. the second attempt at metamucil was sooooo much better and seems to be keeping most of my IBS symptoms in check.

good luck
