Constant Pain, Please help

Hi, I am a 23 year old female from Australia, I have had bowel problems for 6 years now, and still do not know what the problem is, the doctors are saying it is IBS D but I'm not so sure, it really feels like something more serious, I had a chronic fissure after having my second child which they said needed surgery but has now healed from using cream, I have had a ct scan which showed nothing and I also had a a test not sure of the name where they check my lower bowel with a long instrument, sigoscopy (sp?).
I get a lot of pain in my lower right area, I can touch that area and hear like a watery sound, I get alot of discomfort after I eat anything, and when I go to the toilet I have extreme discomfort and stomach pain for hours after.
The doctors have told me that if it was anything serious that I would be dead by now, I really know that I should have a colonoscopy and a endoscopy but I am so scared of the preparation. I have 2 children and have just been married, I really feel like I have failed as a mother because I am always sick, I get very little help from anyone and feel like the doctors are not listening to me, can anyone help

Re: Constant Pain, Please help

schedule a colonoscopy in order to rule out Crohn's disease. It could also be diverticulosis.

I don't think it's cancer or anything like that. Like your doctor said, this has been going on for 6 years, so it can't be that serious. Nevertheless, get some tests done to rule out any chronic gasto-intestinal problems. with the right medications or procedures, these things can be managed.

chances are, it's IBS, aggravated through diet.

There are many things it could be with stomach pain after eating and diarrhea with rightsided pain.
You just have to have the tests to start ruling some things out. Sometimes that is the only way to come up with a good diagnoses --- rule things out. I thing a colon exam and endoscopic exam should be done!!!

I wish you well---Harry

Please please get that colonoscopy. You really do this in order to rule out everything. I know that you are dreading the prep but hey, almost all of us on this board has at LEAST had one colonosopy and we have all survived the prep. It's really not THAT bad. The only reason why it was so horrible for me was because I had inflamed hemorhoids that were further aggravated by going to the bathroom. Come on - join the colonoscopy club

Also, I completely understand how you feel about just getting married, having children and feeling like a failure. My bowel issues began right after I got married and pregnant (honeymoon baby). I had the hardest time taking care of myself much less a baby and my husband. My husband became Mr. Mom and my caretaker. I am doing much better but nowhere near perfect. I don't think he thought the "in sickness and in health" portion of the vows would happen so soon. It's is just so frustrating to begin such a wonderful part of your life and feel like crud. I just wanted you to know that you are not alone in this. There are so many people out there that feel just like we do - trying to parent and be a good wife while feeling sick.

Good luck to you and God bless,

Dana

Go for the colonoscopy! It is the only way to be sure! They are not bad. Follow the preparation instructions very carefully.
