Red face Clogging problems

Anyone have suggestions on what I can do to minimize the amount of times that I clog toilets when making bowel movements. I'm not constipated and I do not use too much toilet paper, but my BMs clog the toilet about 50% of the time. I don't know if they are too large or (wide) dense, etc. Thoughts and ideas welcome.

Re: Clogging problems

Are you having a BM at least once a day? Many people think that once every several days is fine. This gives them larger stools that create a problem. Also be sure that you are drinking enough to keep the stools soft and flexable. Some say they should break up when flushed. I do not think that is necessary.

Re: Clogging problems

Thanks. Usually once a day, occasionally miss a day or 2. They don't usually break up, which may be the problem. Not sure.

Re: Clogging problems

If you work to get a little more moisture in your colon that should help. Try increasing your water intake. Tea, coffee, softdrinks, etc. do not help as much as just plain water does. If waters get boreing, then add a little lemon or lime juice, but no sugar etc.

Re: Clogging problems

I had the same problem, and I bought a new toilet.

If you live in the U.S. you probably have a water-saver toilet that uses about 1-1/2 gallons to flush - NOT enough. I got a $$ toiet that uses air pressure along with the meager 1-1/2 gallons of water to flush, and it was well worth the money. Industrial-strength public toilets don't give me this trouble!!

Re: Clogging problems

It happens in public bathrooms with industrial toilets too, but not as often. If nothing else, at least, it's nice to know I'm not alone.
