Re: Food going right through me!
hi....yeah, it's rather humbling having to go to one, but really you have no choice at this time. It's best to get it dealt with and tested properly.
Just to let you know what you eat won't go through you right away...it will take 12 - 48 hours depending on how fast your intestines (small and large) are reacting.
Eating, however, will trigger peristalsis which in your case means a bm.
I would suggest you keep a food diary just incase the doc asks...maybe you'll see a trigger that you never considered.
Are you consuming artificial sugar products? what about supplements?
I have ulcerative colitis, diagnosed almost 17 years ago. I did, however, have diarrhea for almost 3 years straight before the bleeding showed up...it was then that my doctor sent me to a gastro specialist (who is awesome). I did drop my regular doctor after that incident tho.
The doctor at that time might take a peek with a scope, or he/she'll just ask a lot of questions and set you up for blood tests, stool sample testing (have icecream pails handy), and probably a colonoscopy or upper and lower gi series testing.
It might take a while to get this sorted out....but you really don't have any choice but to pursue it.
Try not to let your emotions get the better of you since stress can exacerbate symptoms.
Oh, forgot to ask....have you tried any elimination of certain foods such as dairy, grains, etc?
keep us posted,
quincy
