bowel blockages,my nightmare!

Hi new to the site&was looking for some info&support.Hope you can help&thanking you in advance.
I had a hysterectomy 10 yrs ago with serious complications including peritonitis, septeceamia&a large open wound which took 9mnths to heal.I was in hospital for a yr&had to endure several operations to put it all right(ish!).During the different stages of my ops&treatments i had an assortment of stomas&bags.Theres far too much details to put here!
The problems i am facing over the last 2-3yrs seem to be bowel blockages which are extremely painful&really get me down.
I do have to omit certain foods out of my diet but this hasnt seemed to have slowed the attacks.I have an obstruction about every 2-3mnths.
I also have several hernias that are too risky to be operated on.
Are my probs due to adhesions or my hernias?Could this be just all due to my medical history or something more sinister?
My drs tend to shy away from doing anything at all as they seem very scared of any possible consiquence&i must say im too scared to push things too!!
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Re: bowel blockages,my nightmare!

Thanks for reply.Without going into detail(!),i self treat with manual extraction&enemas!I also have to stop eating&make sure i drink as much as i can.I really shouldnt drink though as this can in itself cause problems but the alternative is to go into hospital&be put on a drip.Hospital is something i want to avoid at all costs&my dr is happy for me to self treat as i know when things are taking a turn for the worse.I would then of course go to hospital.I have seen my dr today&ive agreed to go for a scan to try&find out for sure whats going on&fingers crossed!!!
