Mucous & floating poo & Positive hemoccult

I never really paid attention to my BMs unless I had the runs or something which is really rare. I have lost a bunch of weight (20% of my body weight in a little over 3 months) & have some pain in my left side (surgeon [I was referred to for the pain & positive FOBT - I am going to have a colonoscopy & EGD] says nerve pain) so my PCP did the FOBT (fecal occult blood test) on my poo & it came back postive 2 of the 3 times. I was shocked to say the least. I have been going every day now (I used to go every 2-3 days before this all began) but not much else has changed. I have noticed lots of yellow jelly-like mucous & some floaters. I don't ever see the blood that they found in my stool. Is the mucous & floaters a problem? Should I mention it to my PCP?
