After surgery one starts with a liquid diet - the first day or two it will be things like juice, broth, sorbet; then working up to soups. From there, people add what they are comfortable adding. The general recommendation is to increase fiber (slowly), get plenty of veggies and fruits.

If one returns to their usually pre-surgery way of eating, it is very likely that diverticulosis/itis will recur.
