| Prolapse of the rectum? Any info Please!!!
I would like to know if anyone has any experience with rectal prolapse. What are the symptoms that go with the prolapse as opposed to hemmoroids? I suspect that the prolapse is what I have now but from reading different articals I am not so sure. Please someone guide me in the right direction.
Thanks, Katliz

Hi.. I had the beginnings of one. When I had a BM, the rectum would protrude out. Wiping was "sloppy" and I had to wipe and wipe. I could feel my whole anus bulged out, but once I was done - it seemed normal. I see you are a female - I am too.. along with this I had other prolapses... bladder & uterus.

Thanks. The rectal prolapse just disappeared? do you mean you can push it back in and it stays? What did you have done to correct the bladder and uterine prolapse? Yes, I am a female and I have an apt on Monday for my post op check up. I am so afraid that this will have to be corrected with surgery and I don't think I can do a fifth surgery this year. Sick to my stomach if you know what I mean. Did you have prolapses due to childbirth? Take care. Katliz

Hi, I alos had rectal prolapse but had to do the sphincteroplasty get it fixed. I am still in the healing process. You should see a colon and rectal surgen to make sure you have rectal prolapse.

I had full rectal prolapse when going to the bathroom, thought it was hemmoroids at first, but now. Just had abdominal/laproscopic assist surgery last week so am still recuperating.
I've posted in a couple of other places, so I won't go into it again. But if you have questions, please feel free to ask.
In the meantime, has anyone else had this?

Hi Elley - I just posted to you on "rectal prolapse by kristenxrenee." These boards have a lot on rectal prolapse and were really helpful to me. I'm in CA like you (LA) and had surgery in mid December and am pretty much ok now. I was in decent shape going in and it took me about 4 weeks before I was back running/walking, etc. I also went really slow on eating, meaning I spent about a week or two on soft foods (mashed potatoes, yogurt, etc) before moving on. Now my digestion is normal so that's one thing I'd recommend. Good luck with your problem and let me know how you're doing.

Linda,
Thanks, it sounds like your surgery is a success. Its been so long since I have felt normal and it is good to know that you are doing well. How long were you in the hospital? Who was your Docter?
Elley
