Inflammation of small intestine
I have just had an abdominal u/s scan which the radiologist considered
showed inflammation of the small intestine. He did say I will need a barium swallow x-ray for more detail.
I do not have any diarrhea or constipation, or any blood in my stool, so am I correct in assuming I do not have Crohn's or UC ?
I had previously been told the chronic pain I have had in my upper left quad
for 5 years might be Splenic Flexure Syndrome, or else a stricture in the transverse colon causing congestion. Though no narrowing or widening was seen in the colonoscopy 2 yrs ago......
Is it possible that a problem in the colon could cause inflammation to spread back up the gut to the small bowel ?
Can anyone suggest what I can do to reduce the pain and inflammation? I am unable to take NSAIDs, or any painkillers containing codeine. I am on the Specific Carbohydrate diet, which exludes all cereals and simple carbs. I do not smoke or drink alcohol.
