swollen colon, lower backpain, bloating

Hi, can anyone help please!
Struggled with constipation for years-sometimes more and sometimes less.
June2010-used antibiotics for colon & got better. Aug 2010 went for histerectomy. Antibiotics again and a lot of pain medication. Dec 2010 struggle with swelling of lower abdomen & backpain-thought it was still recovery from hysterectomy.Jan 2011 dr said colon is very much infected. Used Salazopyrin (not an antibiotic-inflammotory medication) for 20 days - little better but still very much swelling and discomfort. Flagyl made me very dizzy - can't function properly. Feb 2011 went to see a gastroentroligist. Dr say I must go for gastroscopy & colonoscopy. Medical aid refuses to pay for hospitalisation - only pays if its done in drs rooms. Dr doesnt do colonos out of hospital due to light anaesthesia. Dont know what to do anymore. I eat a lot less now and lost 4.1kg since beginning of Jan2011.Have been on LP299V (probiotic) for about 6 weeks-still a lot of pain & discomfort.Have been on flagyl antibiotic (metronidazole) for 7 days-it kills the bad bacteria in colon without affecting the good bacteria. Maybe I'm too impatient. Maybe my body is taking its time to recover from hysterecromy and lot of meds. Just get so frustrated to feel this way - can't do much. Feel like I have a stone in my lower abdomen 24/7.
Not cool at all! Anyone with the same symptoms? Please let me hear from you!!!!!

Re: swollen colon, lower backpain, bloating

I was recently in an auto accident. Mild whiplash that over time developed into very significant lower back pain. I have not been back to work in 6 weeks. Ive been receiving treatment with a chiropractor, and massage therapy. The other day I woke up in so much pain I went to the emergency room. My leg was going numb. I wanted to get an MRI, but they gave me a CT instead. I was diagnosed with "mild protitus" The swelling has gotten so bad I can no longer feel my back pain. I have no issues going to the bathroom, other than pain from pressure when squeezing. Some days are worse than others. In your experience does this go away? What happened in your situation? I have no idea what brought this on me. I am 29 and was very healthy before the accident. I believe that its a combination of stress, and not getting proper exersize since the accident.
Please share.
