Angry Painful BM only during periods:[

I've had this pain for a while. It only ever happens on the first few days on my period. It feels like my insides are being pulled through my anus during a bowel movement. I noticed that my movements are a lot larger for some reason. The pain is so excruciating that I'm terrified to go to the bathroom:[
I went to the gyno and thought I had endometriosis. After some tests, an ultrasound and such, the results came back normal. She recommended I take fiber supplements and drink plenty of water. I did but the pain hasn't stopped...:[
Does anyone know what could be causing this?

I should also mention that my periods aren't heavy at all. In fact I don't even fill up a regular pad during the entire ordeal:/

It might be worth checking with a Gastroenterologist.

I get some IBS symptoms around my period as well with some constipation.

My GI doc recommends a high fiber diet. Probiotics can help. I also have a prescription for Miralax which draws water to the BM which softens it and helps tremendously in the ease of going. The dosage can be doubled for those really tougher times. (Miralax is OTC, but the generic script is much less expensive.)

Most of the problem has to do with our estrogen levels during our period. It also can be caused by taking Advil,Aleve,Naproxen for menstrual cramps every four to six hours. I have to be extra vigilant in making sure I move my bowels daily because I am very prone to getting constipated even when I am not menstruating. I use a glycerin suppository to help to go if I haven't moved my bowels within the last 48 hours. Glycerin suppositories don't make you dependent on them like harsh stimulant laxatives. You might try using Citrucel or metamucil on a regular basis twice a day to keep you on regular schedule of moving your bowels even when you're not on your period. If you wait to use Citrucel or metamucil when you're already constipated it won't work for at least 72 hours and it means the stool hardened in the rectum and sigmoid colon will get all that much harder waiting for the Citrucel or metamucil to work. It will make it all that much more painful to pass that hardened stool if you can at all without causing a hemorrhoid or anal fissure. I hope this helps you to make sure you move your bowels regularly all the time.
