    Colon Surgery

Hi there, I hope you can help. My brother was admitted to hospital for a ruptured colon ten days ago. We live in the UAE and have limited access to great specialists. The Doctor repaired the tear without using a stoma and allowed my brother to go home after 6 days within 2 days he was back, this time with a bloated stomach which turned out to be a haematoma, the Doctor did a second operation and removed the blood but said he found another "adhesion" in the colon which he repaired.
My brothers pulse is between 120-140, his white blood cell count was 46000. he was put on strong antibiotics and his pulse lowered slightly and his white cell count went down to 31000. But today they did a CT scan and said he has a fungal infection and another "tear" in his colon.
Is he getting the best treatment. WE have so many unanswered questions like - what caused this - is it cancer and why does he seem to be getting worse and worse.
The doc said in two days if things are "better" he will do a 3rd operation and install a stoma. Please comment if you know anything

    Re: Colon Surgery

Although I've had colon surgery it was to remove a section of intestine due to fast growing polyps (my sister had rectal cancer), I can't relate to your brothers issues other than you might want to find a different doctor and get a second opinion even if it means traveling a distance to do so. I was very fortunate to have a doctor that I truly trusted. It doesn't sound to me like you have confidence in his doctor.
