Angry lack of bowel movement after back surgery

Good morning, folks - I had a micro-discectomy at L5-S1 done on 6/11. I had one insignificant hard bowel movement 2 days after surgery but none since. I have taken a generic stool softener every evening and last night decided to take 2 dulcolax which usually work very well for me. Unfortunately. nothing has happened yet. I know that the pain medication does affect bowel movements. I'm very close to going to the drug store & getting an enema at this point. The same thing happened to me after child birth many years ago & I remember how painful it was when it did work. I had cabbage for dinner last night, drinking water and trying to eat the right things. Any other ideas? I'm also wondering if I do do the enema and it is successful would that perhaps lessen my back pain some?

Here's a surefire way to make it. A double dose of milk of magnesia, following by a hot cup of decaf coffee or clear broth. That will generate the volcano!
