Unhappy anal fissure driving me to despair

    Dear all,

I had several anal fissures in the past which I usually heal myself with stool softeners and creams within 3 to 4 weeks. 10 and 8 years ago I had bad fissures that required LIS from which I recovered well. I am currently suffering from the most painful fissure I ever had since mid January 2014. I was lucky enough to receive a Botox injection on the 30.1.because I was waitlisted for same since April 13 when I applied for it to receive a long term solution.

I live I Australia and our public waiting lists are extremely long. I had short relieve from the Botox injection and stopped work due to unmanageable pain and anal spasms on 20.2.14 . When seeing my specialist on the 27.2. I was promised another Botox injection and sigmoidoscopy on an urgency list between 1 and 4 weeks. This did not happen as my specialist is on holidays and apparently no spaces till end April. With a lot of complaining I got now a verbal promise to be done 27.3. Unfortunately my specialist is not happy to do another LIS as incontinence can arise as a complication. I am currently on dilitazem cream after rectogesic failed, slow release oxycodone tablet called targin which does not cause constipation, patacetamol and valium for severe spasms.

Pain peaks 3 to 6 hours after BM to unbearable but otherwise is constantly there. Often unable to sleep at night if BM in evening. Spending hours in hot bath and on hot water bottle, unable to exercise at all, also when no bowel action. Even beach walking causes pain. I am Cooking and ironing between pain attacks, sitting on cushion while doing chores. Taking stool softeners that don't bulk up stools. Due back at work on 24.3., keen to go, but don't know how to...have offered money to be done privately but doctors say no difference now. Mainly resting on bed, dashing out to supermarket before BM but can't stay out long.

Has anyone ever been there, understands what I am going through, has anyone got any advice to give me? I want to be cured so badly that I am willing to take the risk of incontinence!!
