Black, loose stools after Pepto Bismol

    Hi,

I had the stomach bug four days ago and took pepto bismol religiously until about two days ago. I now have black, loose stools and I don't know if I should be worried or not. I know that pepto turns it black, but it looks almost like coffee grounds and I don't know if that's normal. I also had some abdominal pain yesterday that felt like cramping. I take omeprazole if that helps. I'm 19.

When i take pepto bismol is gives me terrible cramping and tarry black stools for about a day or so. I am not sure about the coffee grounds situation you are referring to but pepto makes me ill, which stinks because it goes against its purpose but is the only thing that will stop my nausea and vomiting when i get sick. Maybe try leaving your doctor a message and see what they think? If it lasts more than two days i would definitely just schedule a doctors appointment.
