brain injury, eye contact and facial expressions

I have a hypoxic brain injury from a pain med overdose (I stopped breathing in my sleep). The whole right side of my brain constantly has an annoying feeling in it. Anyways, ive noticed since it's happened, when I make eye contact with strangers and engage in conversation, they make very strange facial expressions at me, like squinting, mean, dirty, sour, or unpleasant looks. I know this is mirroring, and it really bothers me. Its given me social anxiety ans now I have trouble making eye contact. Anybody else with a brain injury relate? What can I do to help this? I just try to make eye contact anyways, smile, be pleasant and normal, but God this is so annoying!
