Question Accident, now with Seizures

Hi, I am a twenty year old female from South Africa. In February of this year, I was unfortunate enough to be hit by a car on my way to the technicon (I study Biomedical Technology). I was on my bicycle. I don't really know what happened directly after, all I know is I tried to get up and couldnt, I dont know if I had been lying there for a while or anything. To make a long painful story short, I was taken to the Army emergency room, as I am a state patient. As I lay waiting for X-Rays, I could not feel my legs. I still have terrible lower back pain, to the extent of losing feeling in one leg or the other.
I was told to go home, with bleeding arms and legs, barely able to walk, and a lump on my head that couldnt even be cupped by a mans hand. They told me I was fine.
Now, I get seizures. Sometimes, though rarely, during the day. The most recent was last night, and it felt like it lasted for a rather long time.
I seem to have some form of arrhythmia, and my pulse shoots through the roof or crashes for no reason, thats if it can even be found. Radial pulse is a rare thing nowadays.
I'm rather terrified at the moment, as I sit in the lab and black out for about 5 seconds, or feel so faint I need to steady myself and wait for the blackness closing in to receed.

Can anybody please give me a clue as to what might be going on or what I can do? I cant see a neurologist, as we are struggling to get me on my parents army medical and cant afford a private consultation.

It would help a lot, thanks

Re: Accident, now with Seizures

I know what you mean by blacking out for 5 seconds, I also suffer from this after a motorcycle accident 3 years ago, among numerous other issues. The brain is a mystery to most and we are just starting to understand it. Having never been to South Africa (but have sailed around the cape) I am not sure how your medical system works. If you are seriously worried about these issues, forget about the money and get your self checked out by a good neurologist!!! Your health and well being is worth more than any amount of money. I am so far into debt due to my accident that I will never get out from under it, but I am alive and get to see my family every day. You did state that you are a biomedical student, can you see someone at the university? I would try every avenue available to you. Please keep us posted as to how you are doing.

The TBI guy.
