Unhappy Brother is in coma

My brother is in coma right now. He had a minor accident 2 weeks tht lead to a blood clot in his knee. That clot has travelled to his lungs and has stopped the oxygen supply and he got collapsed.
Its 5 days now and the only improvement in him is tht he is breathing on his own and the lower part of the body (ie) below his nek the organs are working well and good.
They are keeping him in sedation cos if they stop the medicine imeediately he is getting fits. The doctors say tht his brain has damaged due to lack of oxygen. They are goin to take the EEG test tomorrow.
Is there any chance of my brother getting back to his normal self.
Please reply. Thank u.

Re: Brother is in coma

Its hard to tell, just take it day by day with little expectations. He may have to relearn some things and it can be long and difficult process. Comas are not like they are on TV or movies. Hang in there

Re: Brother is in coma

I have a friend, whose grandson OD'd and was without oxygen for 30 minutes. He was in a coma for 2 weeks. When he woke, he seemed to be perfectly normal, maybe a little's been 5 years and he gets worse by the year. He can't walk, almost like he has MS. He can't feed himself anymore. He has bad spasms that make his body sore. His mind is sharp except for short term. Long term is fine. You just never know. Time is the only thing that shows what kind, if any, damage he may have. Prayers are with your brother and you and family. Stay on your knees! God Bless.
