    Question about Chiari revision surgery

    Hi all,

I am nine years post op for a bone only chiari malformation decompression surgery.

This past week I finally had enough and contacted my neurosurgeon's office due to ongoing symptoms, primarily daily occitpal headaches and pronounced dizziness while walking either on a treadmill or outside. I also get whooshing in my ears upon standing, tinnitus, brain fog, etc.

I have a MRI without contrast scheduled for this Saturday. I was a little surprised that my surgeon was not comfortable with waiting any longer to schedule. I am also a little confused as to why he ordered it without contrast.

In the meantime, I am wondering if anyone has experience with returning symptoms after decompression without a dura patch, and whether or not you had to have revision surgery. Also interested in what that was like in terms of recovery as compared to a first surgery.

    Any answers are very appreciated!!!
