I AM SO GLAD i found this message board. like someone else said, i dont feel alone anymore.

i've been having this feeling for a few weeks now, and as days go by, i was researching more and more on the web fearing the worst... a brain tumor. the more i read about it, the more symptoms i seemed to have discovered.

i was actually in tears last night fearing not so much for my life, but for my family.

but this post hit the nail on the head (no pun intended ). and yes i do sit in front of a computer pretty much all day... :\

the reason i haven't visited a doctor is because i have no health insurance and little money. i'm a full time college student paying my own way, so i'm scared of what an MRI would cost. (I was considering getting one done because of the symptoms)

May I ask what kind of costs have been incurred for the doctor visits and medications? pinched nerve.. zoloft..

thanks for your help and support
i'm feeling better already

Hi,I posted earlier about having the symptoms of crawling and numb sensation on the left side of my scalp. Strange, but the symptoms have stopped since I changed the shampoo I was using. Could be a coincidence, but maybe it was an allergic reaction. If the symptoms don't return then I'll be convinced.

hi all, i have benign intracranial hypertension (also known as pseudotumor cerebri and idiopathic ih) and during diagnosis i was told by my gp that the excruciating headaches were anxiety,if only,my brain was being if u think that it isnt anxiety i suggest u get to a neuro and if u have any visual probs then get to a neuro opthalmologist now as damage to eyes from the brain isnt always reversable and is a big sign of a tumor or ptc, bih, iih.I also suffer tingling/pins and needles which are so bad some days that im nearly in tears, these are mainly on the feet and hands but will go on any part of my body and i have bad dizziness too along with alot of other symptons,if your mri come back clean then id ask to b checked for this as its a rare disease and unknown.

This all sounds so familiar. I started getting tingling and numbness about 2 years ago. I was also getting pins and needles in my arms and legs, along with headaches, burning sensations in my arms and forhetfulness. GP thought it was MS so I had an MRI but that was normal. Went to a neurologist and he diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia.
2 years later and I'm suffering similar symptoms again, only this time there are two small indetations on my forhead, just back from the hairline. Went back to GP and the GP said the indentaions were normal head lumps/bumps. She said I was suffering from high anxiety and that was causing the scalp and face tingling. I also suffer with mild headaches more often than not and the GP also put that down to anxiety.I requested another MRI and she refused. She did say she would refer me to a neurolgist again though.
Anyone else have this scenario?

I get tingling in my head alot too... it scares me so much. It happens several times a day and sometimes last a while. My head gets these little pains all over and sometimes in one spot it is tight or pressure like. My neck is always hurting and is very stiff. My neck sometimes hurts bad in the front where the veins are and I worry. I am afraid I have a brain tumor. Sometimes I can put my head down and when I lift it up it feels pressure and slight pain. Sometimes my head gets real hot and feels like it is on fire. I am so scared.

Hi there,

I think I've been having a simliar kinda thing happening to me just lately, also about 5-6 years ago.

It feels numb, and tingly. It seems to be at the top of my eyes/eyebrows and upto my forehead, as though some hair has fallen down on to my face. It kinda worries me, as well as driving me crazy, I also wonder if it is stress related as I have been just lately. Should I go and have my eyes checked out agian at the opticians?

Thanks for any advice.

Hi all,
Been several weeks since the last episode, but I still have no idea why it happends. Could it be allergies, stress, computers? Who knows. My sympathies to all who experience this annoying sensation. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Hi Everyone,

Just started having this tingling sensation on Friday. It started on the right side of my head, a bit behind the temple, towards the ear. It was more of a pain than a tingle at that time. Almost a week later, I have it now on the left side of my head, centralized near the jaw joint by the left ear. Went Monday to the ER to get it checked out - CAT Scan and blood tests came back negative. I would like to visit a specialist - maybe get an MRI. I am going to my GP doctor tomorrow for a follow-up. The sensation is tingly, slightly numb feeling, kind of like the water bubbles as described in a post above. I don't know if I can correlate the events, but I was on Lipitor 20 mg since Nov. 2002. I went to the doctor last week to see if I should change medication, since I was experiencing muscle pain in calves, tricep, chest. He suggested trying Crestor, a new statin drug. I took only 2 doses, one on Wed, the next on Thurs. On Friday afternoon, I felt a slight pop or click sensation about an inch above my right ear. I stopped taking the Crestor. Then I got the headache in that same spot. I can't necessarily correlate the statin drugs to the pain, but it was the only thing that I had changed. I have been stressed out a bit - was laid off in Nov. 2002 until July 2003. Have a baby who is teething, so I'm not getting good sleep. Have a new job, & haven't seen my friends for awhile. Could be depressed, stressed, TMJ, etc. Hope to find out soon. Thanks to all who posted on this topic.

Hi all,
I still have the numbness and tingling after all these months and now to top it off i have a continuous tremor in my right arm and hand...this just started happening more after a major anxiety attack that lasted 4 hours (this past saturday) and an ER trip who said it was all due to anxiety. But the numbness comes every now and again but the tremors are now non stop whether its a small tremor to sometimes my hand is shaking so bad i cant stop it even if i sit on it.. . Any advice? My mom thinks its my meds : 2000mg keppra, 150mg zoloft and xanax. The doc at the er told me to go to my psychiatrist and up my xanax because it doesnt seem to be helping. I see him tomorrow. Im scared because its always something lately. I also have a pineal cyst and bulging disc from this head injury so I am so confused. Is it from seizures...meds...the bulging disc..bilateral carparal tunnel syndrome (that i now have) or what? Any help would be appreciated. Im going nuts now lol. Take care all,

I'm a 30 year old graduate student with similiar symptoms. One night after an eight hour long stint on the computer (not a regular occurence)-I started having shooting pain and tingling on my upper back--it got worse--within a few days the skin on my right arm started going numb--eventually I have alternating numbness and tingling in both of my legs--A couple of weeks later I strained my upper back and shoulder and the symptoms worsened, but I was having no problem functioning or teaching classes. I saw a neurologist and he said it was oversensitivity He didn't elaborate on this diagnosis and later told me that he thought I suffered from somatization (essentially he believed that I was subconsciously causing my own symptoms)--by the way he took no tests prescibed me Trazadone. I immediately started having strange side effects- pressure in my head, neck, and chest-he kept me on the medication anyway (I suspect the nurse didn't tell the Dr. about my sideffects). After stopping the medication I felt better for a short time (my original symptoms were never helped or made worse by this medication). The pressure in my head and chest returned and actually became worse after a visit to a chiropractor-- Now I have a tight numb feeling on my forehead, and intense pressure in the back of my head and neck, and strange tingling and itchy sensations in my head. It's always there-never quite goes away although sometimes it gets worse. It is affecting my short term memory and sometimes I also have a difficult time reading- I've had a MRI of my brain and nothing conclusive was found. I've seen two psychologists who have assured me this is not simply stress. They also did not think that it was a psychological problem. My general Dr and new neurologist have tested me for viritually every disease and condition and have found nothing-everything comes back normal. One of my doctors (the others disagree) has suggested that it might be beign intercranial hypertension--but at this point I am reluctant to have a lumbar puncture-I don't really need my head to feel worse. At this point my neurologist is at a loss to explain what is wrong with me. I'm having an MRI of my spine tommorrow-and while I hope they don't find anything-it is horrible to have such strange symptoms without a reason. I'm still working and taking care of my children- most of the time I try to ignore the symptoms and do my best to concentrate. Does anyone have any ideas?

I too have a tingling in my scalp/head. Back of head, left side near occipital lobe. bothering me off and on for 1.5 years. Comes and goes. Lately it has been omnipresent and radiates around and above my left ear, when stressed or really busy at work. Feels sort of like a bug under my scalp with the occasional twinging pain. had CT scan done in FL June 2002 - negative on anything. Present Dr here in NS says tension headache and prescribed anti inflammatories, so far hasn't helped in a week. This isn't really painful, just more irritating and of course the stress and worry it causes by not knowing. I spend a lot of time on the computer and when not on it I'm busy running the restaurant that I own. Massage therapist spent two hours with me two nights ago and is baffled. He has suggested acupuncture and neurologist. Last couple of days the pain has been worse.
We're all grasping at straws on this forum - I wish I had an answer for you, or you had an answer for me

I have been experiencing these types of symptoms for about a month - I suggest to all, get an MRI of the Brain, if anything just to have the piece of mind that you don't have a tumor or previous stroke is relief enough, it makes dealing with the symptoms a little easier. Has anybody heard of Trigeminal Neuralgia, my neurologist gave me NERONTIN for this. I have been experiencing left side facial tingling that goes from above my eyebrow to my lower part of my cheek bone, it almost feels like my skin is really tight. Brain MRI came back normal - MRI C-spine did show 2 bulging discs C5-6 & C6-7, but Nero doc. does not think this is the cause of facial tingling. He said that all facial sensation stems from the Cranial Nerve - located just above you temples. The NERONTIN seems to help, but not totally, I occasionally will also get bouts of left sensation, not pain, not weakness, just feels different (if that makes any since) I personally think it is ANXIETY, I am currently taking BUSPAR for the anxiety, only been on it for a week so results are unknown. Not that I would wish these symptoms on anyone, but it's nice to know there are others out there you feel the same. I would be interested to know of any other Doctors diagnoses you may have heard... Take Care

possible psychological solution...just might help for some

I know this may sound trite, but you might attempt to focus your energy ****** opposed to internally.

It has helped, albeit limitedly, for my similar condition.

oooops mistake posting

Wow. I found this site thru a search engine. I have been feeling a tingling sensation in my scalp also for a few years now. It will come and go with no regularity. I describe mine as if you were to be wearing a baseball cap snug for a while and then take it off. You still kinda feel like you have it on. Also I feel the tip of my right ear as if someone was lightly squeezing it, but not painful. There are no other symptoms I can tell. It just drives you nuts when you resting and most times by now when I am busy I just put it out of my mind. I am taking no drugs, but about 11 years ago I tried to take 32 sominex sleeping pills 2 different times. There is a history of cancer in my family and that has me worried too. I am just hoping that it is stress.........emotional and physical.
