| Tingling in left side of head
About 6 months ago I began noticing an uncomfortable tingling sensation in my left ear. It wasn't painful, just annoying. It lasted for a month or two but has since disappeared... but now that same sensation is in the left side of my head. It feels like its somewhere just behind my left ear and going clear up to the crown of my head and to my left temple. Most of the time I barely notice it, but there are occasions where it is really uncomfortable. It is especially a nuisance when I try to sleep at night and I have to have the left tingling side of my head pressed to the pillow or else it keeps me awake.
These are the only symptoms. I've never been dizzy or disoriented by it. My greatest concern is that it might get worse. I've been curious as to whether it could have to do with something I've been eating or drinking too much of. I drink a lot more caffeine than I used to and I've wondered if it could have something to do with that.
Would appreciate a response. I would go to a doctor but I can't afford it and I'm also afraid it might be something worse than I think.
Thanks.

Hello, I too have this, I have had this feeling in my head, ear and neck (left side only) for almost a month. Doctors saying it's stress, we shall see! Good luck and I hope we feel better.

Its comforting to know that there are other people out there experiencing this too. I usually don't even think about it... I forget that its there until it really starts tingling. I guess I would be more alarmed if there were other symptoms or some pain... but its never crossed the line of being a mild annoyance.

tafkaga: I hava the SAME EXACT thing as you do.
It started with temp tingly feeling near my ear when I would turn my head., but from last 2-3 months it has become a temporary tingling feeling on the left side of my face, During the day it is not to bothersome.
But during night it becomes very bothersome especially with the pillow again my face. Hard to sleep sometimes. I also get the naussiating/slight dizzy feeling as well. I have been drinking lots of tea on my new job (this could be a link as you pointed it out for me)
I have done MRI (neck & brain) came negative, plus spinal tap (awaiting results).. It doesnt seem to be dangerous, but very disconserting. I am also worried it might get worse, but hasnt in past 2-3 months.
Also tell me more about your age/sex... I am am 24/Male... I wonder if there is something

Yep you just described my symptoms, with the exception of the fact that I have never gotten dizzy. Lately these symptoms have become more noticeable. I can feel them even during the day and they're incredibly annoying, although not painful. Sometimes it seems like I won't notice them and then suddenly I'll think "Hey, I'm not having that tingling in my head"... and as soon as that thought pops into my head, the tingling starts.
In response to another poster, no I don't use cell phones at all. Was a good thought though. I have been trying to think of what I've been doing differently over the past 6 months. One thing is that I drink a lot more caffeine... some coffee or soda when I wake up... tea during the evening hours... then late night i drink more soda. I probably drink near 4 cans of soda per day on weekends and 2 or 3 a day on regular week days, plus tea.
My other thought was that it might have something to do with how long I sit at a computer. I run a home business and I'm literally sitting at my computer just about the entire time I'm awake, staring at the monitor.
I'm a 25 year old male. I suppose what I really should do is cut back on the caffeine and see if it helps out. Hopefully that will do the trick. It's a hard habit for me to break though since I quickly tire of drinking water and fruit juice. I'll report back with my findings.

Yes we same to be having pretty much the same thing.
One thing I have noticed is during the day (when the tingly feeling is fairly reduced) if I tap on my face (left side) with my fingers I can feel the tingly feeling kind of reverbarate on the entire left side of face.
Also I too started a job in December ( computer programmer, with lots of tea during the day) 3 weeks after start of job this tingly feeling became permanent. I had the once in while thing for over a year. To be fair I was a heavy computer user even before this job.
I am thinking of doing an EEG, if that was also normal, then I will try a neck specialist, because I think it could be a problem with the bones in the neck, maybe pinching a nerve or something..
Good luck and keep in touch

That's a good thought about the neck... I hadn't considered it. I do basically sit in the same posture all day... could have something to do with it. I also know what you're talking about when you said you could feel it throbbing against your fingers. When I press the tingling side of my head to the pillow I can feel it throbbing, but if I don't put my head to the pillow it annoys me so badly that I can't sleep. So I basically have to place the left side of my head against the pillow in such a way that my ear is not pressed to it... I know that sounds confusing, but its the only way I can sleep.
Keep me updated.

This is an interesting discussion about the computer, because I too have symptoms similar to these, and have had a career as a computer programmer. Definitely, in my case, cervical neck issues were contributory, the onset of which was unavoidably instigated by posture and tension sitting at my workplace. While I am retired now at 65
it wasn't until my mid-fifties that things started taking a more chronic turn. That dizziness was added to my list of complaints more recently inspired some thoughts about the effects of electrical signals being shot back and forth, particularly with the advent of new technologies. Maybe the environment we all share is just becoming too pregnant with affects beyond our control. For all I know the laptop that I am currently tapping away at is not the friend I thought it to be.

Wow, I have been searching for 4 months online to find something similar to what I am experiencing with my left ear, and I finally found this thread! I am relieved to know others have it and haven't gone on to find out that it's serious. I get the tingling, itchy pressure in my ear too, no pain but just annoyance. It is also ONLY when I am sitting or lying down. I suspect it has something to do with caffeine or stress as well. I will keep you posted.
