What is going on inside my brain? Please help! I'm all alone!

Please someone help me!!!
I am scared I'm going to die before a doctor can diagnose me!!!!

I have been experiencing symptoms on and off for about 15 years now with no diagnosis. I am scared and need desperate advise or anyone please if you experience what I am please post!!!!

I have these weird spells where everything around me suddenly speeds up. What I mean is everything literally speeds up around me but it is going normal speed. Does that make any sense? I can be walking at normal pace but seems like I am walking ten times as fast. I could be in the shower washing my hair and it feels like I am scrubbing so fast but I'm really not.

I know I always asked my mom growing up starting as a teenager, "Mom does it sound like I'm talking fast to you?" and she'd always say no.

When I have these spells no one knows I'm having one but me. I can do everything normally but it is very scary when it happens because I can't control when it will happen, why its happening or how long it will last.

The spells usually last anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes.
Everything speeds up then stops as suddenly as it started.
I have been to my family doctor and he thinks I may have damaged a nerve in my right inner ear somehow causing these spells, he's sent me to ear specialists who couldn't find anything wrong.
I've been to the ER but as soon as a spell comes on and by the time I get to the ER its stopped and the ER docs say they can't help me unless its happening right that second.

I thought this last time that I might have finally grown out of them. I hadn't had one in over 4 years or some time frame close to that.
I then had to go in for an endoscopy/colonoscopy for some digestive issues I was having and approximately a week after that procedure I had another spell. I am almost positive its nerve related and maybe somehow the drugs they put me under with for the endo/colon procedure triggered them to start again. Does that make sense either?
That was in November or last year, I had two in November and two in January and February, the last one I had one spell occured right when I woke up then after that one had stopped it happened again. That has never happened before, two in a row like that and I haven't had another sense. But I worry, cry, and panic about when the next one is going to happen.
Is this something fatal thats going to eventually kill me before a doctor can diagnose me?

Please Please Please someone help!

Your definitly not alone. This same thing use to happen to me when I was littler. I'm 18 now and in college. Everytime I got sick it was accompanied by these intense spells where everything started going really fast and it felt like I was breathing really hard and fast. Everything around felt fast, intense, and loud. I hated it. As I got older it faded and since High School it hasn't happened. It never felt life threatening just really scared me while It happened.

It sounds like it might be triggered by the drugs you had. I wouldn't stop taking the drugs you need. Maybe try a daily multivitamin. You might not be getting enough of some mineral or vitamin or something.

I'm 46 now, but way back when I was 13 I came down with pneomonia that lasted for 3 weeks. The medication I was on caused the same thing. It also caused my vision to distort, where if I was reading a book, the text would get small, like I was reading the book from the ceiling. Voices were loud and real fast, and I felt like I was speed-talking. There were 2 medicines....one was definitely penicilin, but don't know the other. They were both liquids and one was a clear green (that's the one I don't know the name of).

Are you currently on any medication?

No I'm not currently on any meds.
I thought I had finally grown out of them too since it had been so long since I had one :-(

Now that I think of it I used to take a clear green medicine when I was a kid for allergies, it was supposed to taste like wintergreen candy, it sort of did but it was nasty.
Is that the same medicine that you are thinking of possibly?
I have terrible tinnitus too.
Did you ever go to a doctor and explain to him or her how you were feeling? If so what did they say or suggest you to do? Or did they look at you like you were talking crazy.
Every doctor I've seen I swear they probably think I'm making this up.
I just want it to end!!!!

Hello jhamilton401, I am 15 years old and in highschool. I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I 3 and I have experienced things like what you have described every so often. Things will seem really slow or really fast (usually slow) and ill start tipping over, than Ill recover and regain balance. My doctor said it was probably related to the epilepsy. I might be wrong though because I stopped telling him about them, two pills a day is enough.

have you ever actually seen a neurologist about this?if not, this would be your best bet here really.if this IS related to an actual nerve problem this type of doc would be able to at least evaluate you and do some testing on you to find the culprit.i really DO think this is what you need to try,see your doc about referring you to one.please keep us all posted.good luck, marcia

Please don't take this personally beacuse I'mjust trying to speak from my own experience. I am schizophrenic and this particular feeling is very familiar to me. Sometimes everything around me appears to slow down but not really.. if that makes sense. But more often, things seem to go at breakneck speed. People rush, lights on and off, sounds come fast and everything rushes past me. It really feels like the world has gotten faster and I'm unable to catch it. My thoughts go faster too but my ability to understand and organize them stays the same. It leaves me feeling lost and terrified. I feel accelerated without being able to cope with this acceleration. Sort of. And I see the world accelerated. My thoughts are, my accelerated but my coping mechanisms stay the same... the feel as if they slow down but it's relative, right?

I'm not saying that sz is even a possibility and please don't get offended. You need to find a doctor that will listen to you and (s)he would understand a lot better. I just wanted to give some insight from my own experience. My illness isn't fatal and controlled fairly well with medication.

I feel for you and I made this post mainly beacuse I wanted you to understand that there is someone who knows that kind of sensation you speak of. Even if it's not the same sickness or problem.. I do understand how scary it can be.

love and peace

Something else.. My walls and ceiling sometimes appear to come down on me. esp if I'm laying down. And there are times when I'm reading and the words just sort of fall apart and seem to tinkle to the bottom of the page, leaving a blank page behind. Well, not quite blank. There'd be a jumble of TimesNewRoman alphabet and punctuation piled at the bottoms of the pages. That's weird. Uh huh. Have you ever had words in books appear to do this? This is frustrating and scary.
