    Tremors???

Hello Everyone! I am a 25 year old female and I have had previous neck problems and had a fusion on c6-c7 about two years ago. Anyway, I have been experiancing hand tremors and also leg tremors. The hand tremors are present when doing things like eating, typing, read, holding something...but if I am at rest I dont' notice it. Also, the leg tremors are noticable when standing up right when I can't lean on something or sit down. I just noticed the leg tremors about 6 monthes ago. This is embarrasing..and I am always afraid people notice me shaking and think something is wrong with me b/c my legs are shakeing and unsteady.

I had a workup on my thyrod...and that came back normal. My doctor is referring me to a neurologist..and I just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas of what I could have. Thanks!

    Re: Tremors???

Hi, I hope that you have found out what is wrong because that was a long time ago when you posted these symptoms. I have been having similar symptoms. I have been sick for about a year now. It started out with dizziness and unsteadiness. I also now have leg tremors. I am also afraid that people are going to see me shake! Please let me know what they found out!!!

    Re: Tremors???

Mag311 and Peggy1, sorry to hear you are suffering from tremors. Welcome to my world. I developed a severe head tremor two years ago. And I mean severe. My head shakes so violently that I feel like I'm about to have a seizure. Went to four Neurologists who all agree it's Essential Tremor, which is usually a familial trait (hereditary). No one in my family has ever had this problem. The final conclusion is that it is related to a brain injury and scarring in the brain. I'm on mysoline, which does control the tremor. Now I have serious short term memory problems which they don't know if they could be caused by the brain damage or the medication.

Anyway, I know how you feel about the embarrassment. I hope you both find a solution.

    Re: Tremors???

I have been dealing with this for several years and been to many neurologists. All of them said essential tremor, Then I asked my gp to refer me to a motion disorder specialist and he said no to essential tremor. I didn't have the major characteristics of it. He basicly told me almost anything can cause tremors, and many of them are very simple like vitamin E deficiency. Do you have any other type of symptoms?

I would suggest to all of you to see a motion disorder specialist if there is one in your area. Luckily I'm close to the Cleveland clinic which has the best in the world. He even told me the other neuro's where going about my treatment all wrong. I'm now on 60mg of inderal la and it's working pretty good.

happyvalleyshar did you try inderal or propranolol before the mysoline? It realy has no side effects compared to all of the ones with mysoline. In the last two years I found most neuros realy dont know much about tremor unless it's associated with ms or parkinson. Good luck to you all.

    Re: Tremors???

Thanks for the motion disorder info. My neuro reduced my med by 1/2 because of severe memory trouble. So to find something without side effects would be a Godsend.
