    Cavernous Hemangioma in the Brain

Anyone had one of these? My Neuro says he thinks this is what I have/had.
First MRI showed it, 2nd MRI it had grown, and 3rd MRI, it disappeared! It all seems weird to me that something was there but now gone. I'm GLAD but confused! Anyone?!?!?!

Re: Cavernous Hemangioma in the Brain

i really don't think that what you had was a cavernoma at all as they don't normally just disapper like that at all.they are actually like a glob of blood vessels and tissue.i have done tons of research on these since i was actually Dxed with one inside my spinal cord back in 2001,and i can honestly say i haven't found one incidence of these just suddenly dissappearing like you described.believe me, i wish it would have so i wouldn't have had to have someone go into the inside of my actual spinal cord just to remove it.

i am not sure just what it was/is?that you had inside your brain, but i really seriously doubt that it was a true cavernous hemangioma.they just don't do that.but hey, what ever it was is gone now,so thats great.if i were you tho i would do what you are doing right now,and that is research to see if you can find out just what you had in you have a copy of your MRI reports?if not,you really do need to obtain a copy just for your own personal medical files.who knows, this could suddenly reappear at some point or 'grow' another of what whatever that first lesion just need to obtain all of the records from your docs and test results(all records starting from the initial visit to your doc about this) so you have all of this info in your never hurts to be prepared, trust me on that.

i am rather curious, just what actually prompted that first visit to your doc about this and what made him want to do that very first MRI?what were you experiencing as far as any symptoms?

while i can tell you that what you described about what appeared to your doc to be a cavernoma that just dissapeared,is very very highly unlikely, there is always room for that very rare incident to actually happen, like i said before in all the years i have spent researching these globs of fun,i have never ever heard of this actually occuring.but if there is one thing i have found since my spinal cord was severely injured because of the surgery done to try and remove mine, its that anything strange wierd and bizarre is indeed possible to have happen within your body.the stories i could tell...good luck and i hope nothing ever shows back up on any future would be very interesting to actually know for sure just what that actually was in your brain did the report actually describe it?in all reports,or the ones that it actually showed in?did you ever seek out a second opinion on the Dx from the one NS?marcia
