Acting strange 2 months after a concussion

My son who is 16 was riding his dirt bike in the Sierras here in Ca. while on vacation with his dad and grandparents back in July. He rode on ahead to check if a gate was open and never returned. He lost control of the bike and hit some trees. Some guys heard the crash and when they got there he was on his feet and able to speak. It ended up he was life flighted out of the mountains to Fresno to the hospital where they did several tests and kept him overnight for observation. He had a concussion and a broken femur bone just above the knee which tells me he must have crashed pretty hard to break that bone. The next day he came home. He still seemed dazed from the accident. We went to the doctor to get him checked out and take care of the leg. He spent the remainder of the summer recuperating. Then he started back to school the beginning of Sept. Things seemed alright then suddenly on Labor Day weekend I asked him to show me on the map exactly where the accident happened and he became very confused. Since it happened he hadn't remembered anything from that day. After that he started talking and not making sense at all. He started telling me that people at school were asking him questions to test him to see if he was ok. When I knew basically no one knew what had happened to him. We went to the store one day and we came out and he said where's Mr. Wilford? out of no where. It made no sense why would his teacher be there in the parking lot. Anyway it seemed like his thoughts were all jumbled up. This went on for about 4 days and then his grandma and I finally took him to the ER to make sure his brain wasn't leaking. Test results showed nothing. So after a total of about 7 days he returned to normal. My question is has anyone ever heard of anything similar to this following a concussion. By the way this is his 2 major concussion in a 4-5 year period. The other one he went over the handle bars of his bicycle. Both times he was wearing a helmet.

First of all - 2 things. I am no doctor and, I hope that all is well with your son.
ER doctors don't usually go through every test available - you may want to seek out a specialist, especially if it happens again.

    Best of luck.
