Numb Skin on Toes

Ok, I dont know where to put this. I have numbness on the skin on the outside top part of my big toes.Worse on my left. The neurologist did a pin test and I can feel deep in the toe -its more like the layers of skin that are numb. When I brush against it or rub it especially. A couple of years ago I wore a strappy heel to a wedding and i remember the straps hurting those parts of my toes. Is it possible i have permanent damage from shoes? I asked the Neurologist and he said "sometimes your body just does things" that wasnt a source of comfort for me. Especially since I am a cancer survivor.
Im having issues wih my left ear and underneath it. I doubt it has anything to do with it. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I also have tingling in my calves....only when i sit on the toilet oddly enough. I am dealing with a lot of anxiety lately and I know it can be from that but the toe thing has been going on for a long time. And its making me frustrated.
