    Question Desperate for some information

    Hi Everyone -

I am a 38-year-old female and think my life may have just been turned upside down. I just found out that I have a mass on my carotid artery. Now I have to wait 11 days to see a specialist, and have so many questions. Please, can anyone who had experienced this share some info?

    - Can tumors on the carotid artery be benign?
    - What is the prognosis?
    - Did you have surgery? How long were you in for, and how long does recovery take?

Anything else you can share. I don't know how I'll be able to get through the next two weeks. Thank you so much!

    Hello BarbaraB2

First, you need to take one day at a time. I understand that your life is in some turmoil as was mine. That is normal. I too was diagnosed with a small interventricular mass or focal prominence of the choroid plexus- in short a 0.09 cm small tumor two weeks ago.. Also I was diagnosed with Cerebral atrophy and mild microangiopathic white matter change. So I truly understand your frustration. I have the second MRI tomorrow and my waiting period was like yours. It can be very depressing as well as disheartening. Yet we both will get through this. I do not know much about your condition. Types of brain tumors are many and each has its own complications. I suggest that you do some research on the internet. there are multiple medical sites that will discuss your specific condition in detail. Do nt worry. Modern brain surgery has become very advanced. Keep the faith and you will be fine. Also do not be afraid to discuss your case with your doctors and ask then questions.
