Re: PLEASE HELP!!! could I have a brain tumor?

I read your symptoms and thought MS with some serious anxiety. Then I thought to when I was having similiar problems which was vertigo. But your symptoms could be anxiety as our bodies all respond differently to stress and then it could be something more serious that needs more immediate attention.

Recently I was having headaches to which no medication was helping. I was actually referred to the ER to run a cat scan to look for tumors and aneuryms. With your history I have little doubt that they would run a cat scan or a MRI to rule out a tumor or aneurysm.

Did I miss something? Is there a reason you cannot go to the ER? Unless there is a reason you cannot go, get your butt to the ER. They can check you out and hopefully relieve some anxiety you are having about what is going on. You shouldn't have to be in pain while waiting for a doctor office visit.

Make sure u get an MRI cat scans only show up so much and miss alot of the big ones....mine woudl never show up on a cat scan and neither wouLd MS. I'm so glad I'm not in america all this talk of insurance seems crazy....australia is somewhat better but american system scares me as I woudl never get any treatment. But also remember even if u can't afford it if its gettign worse quickly u NEED to do something otherwise somethign irreversable could happen....thats what happened to me cause the dr's refused ot help.

Re: PLEASE HELP!!! could I have a brain tumor?

I am having alot of similar symptoms that you are and many others and I got so fed up 2 mos back and took myself to the ER. I have ZERO insurance as I am in college (28 yrs old back to school) and working only part time. THe ER staff was wonderful ran a bunch of tests and had a CT scan to rule stuff out because I have had the same type of volcano headache you are talking about for about 5 mos STRAIGHT every day now. My hospital bill was 7,000 BUT BUT BUT the hospital is helping me pay the bills and its been about 2 mos and I havent even had to pay anything yet. Hospitals esp like Catholic ones and County hospitals get special funding and they wont tell you up front and broadcast it but they all have programs to help those who can not pay their bills due to no insurance or lack of income. I never knew that until my friend who works at a hospital told me to call the billing dept and ask them for help. I had to submit things like my tax records and paycheck stubs and stuff.
If it is truly as bad as you say then go to the ER. FOr god's sake who cares if you have bills when you feel like you are dying anyway.?? Every american out there has bills and are in debt, this is your health and its much more important than not having a hospital bill.

Re: PLEASE HELP!!! could I have a brain tumor?

You know realistically you could wait to go to the Rheumy if your parents are strapped for money. This dr will run tests for Prolactin if he suspects a brain tumor and he can send you to ER for a MRI . If you've waited this long , there's no need to rush.
My daughter has the pseudotumor and her headaches are worse during her period. So I would think if you're not having a period it could still be hormone related. Thyroid could also be affecting you this way, ask for antibody tests.I started out with the H/As in my teens and weird periods and prolactin /milk with no baby and now I have Hashimotos. I also had a Giant cell tumor of the bone that was influenced by hormmones and pregnancy , it grew with every pregnancy.
I'm not saying not to go but if you wait too much longer than it will be a moot point to go if you have an appt on Fri.
    Good luck to you

Re: PLEASE HELP!!! could I have a brain tumor?

Have you thought about an anxiety or antidepressants. I know during a severely stressful time, I would shake, tremor, have headaches blurred vision, trouble holding a pencil to write, like I have no strength. Mine wa an anxiety disorder (I didn't believe it for awhile) and I got on meds and now I am a fine healthy( still anxious at time) working mother!
Kepp us updated, but I sure am glad it is not a tumor!!!
