Results of my MRI Scan - should i worry?

After 5 weeks of waiting, i finally received a letter in the post yesterday fromt he Hospital regarding my MRI scan. It states in the letter that everything was normal APART from "a incidental 14mm calcified, extra axial lesion in the left frontal region, probably menigioma". It goes on to say "no further action will be required but a copy of the letter will go to visiting neurosurgeon for further clarification in this regard".

i've just googled menigioma and it comes up with brain tumor - should i be worried about this do you think? :-( i honestly didn't expect the letter to say this as i have waited over 5 weeks for these results. Can anyone advise? thanks

Re: Results of my MRI Scan - should i worry?

It's scary to learn you have a brain tumor. I think the fact that it's calcified is good, if I understood the Nuerosurgeon, that would stop it from growing?? I would certainly follow up with a NS if you haven't already.

I'm told if you're going to have a brain tumor, Meningioma is the one you'd want. I've been monitoring a Meningioma since 2007, that has continued to grow & now needs to be removed. I have an appt next week with a second NS for a 2nd opinion.

Hope you receive good news from the surgeon.

I have 2 Meningioma that they found in 2010 while looking for the reason for all the inner ear problems I had been having in a MRI.. I also was told that if you going to have a brain tumor, Meningioma is the one you'd want. I just go every so often and have a MRI on it.

I was diagnosed with 2 meningiomas recently. I see the specialist next month. My question is what type of symptoms are all of you having. One of my tumors is an acoustic neuroma. My GP says these are a dime a dozen and seems completely unconcerned.

I really don't get it - I've been told not to worry about it and no further action is necessary. I am pleased of course but I don't get it!

Re: Results of my MRI Scan - should i worry?

I have been diagnosed with an arachnoid cyst which is in my brain behind right ear. They say it's no big deal, but I too feel worried. Is the tumor benign? I would definitely get a second opinion.

Re: Results of my MRI Scan - should i worry?

hello, well because I have been told it's nothing to worry about I am taking this advice, not sure what I can really do about it other than go back to the Neurologist who saw me in the first place and discuss it with her? and also with my GP I suppose

calcified menigioma

I am still experiencing symptoms of unsteadiness/swaying/balance etc so am wondering if it is this calcified meningioma that is causing it. I have asked to see the Consultant again and have an appointment next week and I also have a follow up one on 24 Aug which I have also requested as I really would like to have another follow up MRI scan one year later from my 1st one. Not sure what to think really but hope to get some answers next week.

Re: Results of my MRI Scan - should i worry?

I wrote to my consultant recently about my concerns etc about the finding of my meningioma and I received a very reassuring reply back. All I can do really is try not to worry and hope when I have my follow up scan later this year that it has remained stable but thanks all for your replies.
