Fall from a horse

About 61/2 weeks ago I took a bad fall from my thoroughbred ex-race horse. He spooked during a lesson, and it was like the cartoon, the horse took off and I did not. I landed on my right side very hard. I cracked and misplaced a rib, had a slight concussion (thank God for my helmet) and was extremely bruised. My ankle and leg looked like a stump at the end of each day for about 3 weeks. I gained 10# in swelling. My lower back was swollen, and my right buttock/hip area is still partially numb. I noticed with the reduction of the swelling that I have a hard mass about the size of a ping pong ball at the base of my back. It doesn't really hurt but puts pressure on the areas around it. This is a bit concerning for me. I do have a doctor appointment for next week, but wondered if others have had a similar experience and what it was for them?
