Broken Pelvis and Leg cramps
I broke my pelvis last Saturday, and I was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday. The doctors told me to go home and heal for two weeks and then come back for a follow-up in two weeks. They said I could not put pressure on my left (the side of the break) foot for six to eight weeks. So I've been in a wheelchair since Tuesday, and just using crutches in situations like getting into bed and to the toilet. My left leg is feeling very cramped. When I flex my foot, it sends an intense cramp all up my calf.

What can I do for my leg to keep it from being so painful? Just keep flexing it all day long and wriggling my toes?

Is this just a normal reaction, given the situation, or could there be something wrong?

Thanks very much for your time.

Re: Broken Pelvis and Leg cramps
Most likely the leg cramps are from not being able to move much for so long. Is there anyone who can massage your calf a bit? That would probably feel nice.

If your leg starts swelling a lot, go to the ER because you could have a blood clot. Wiggling your foot and toes and getting your leg massaged will also help prevent blood clots.

You could try drinking tonic water. It sometimes helps with muscle cramps.
