Unhappy Should I get it checked out?

Yesterday I got the top part of my index finger trapped in the dogs lead as she ran off chasing a squirrel!!! I immediately felt a very sharp pain and the finger began to swell around the top joint and bruising came out. Today it is still swollen and bruised mostly around the top of the finger, but the bruising is starting to spread down the finger. The top part of my finger is very numb and tingly in some areas and is v painful to touch in other areas. However i still have movement in my finger and it is only the top most joint that is painful.
I have heard very little can be done about fingers, so should I just leave it and see if it gets better? or go and see a doc?

thanks for any advice given.
