How common is bladder cancer in young people?

Consider the following person: Male, late 30s, never a smoker, no use of analgesics or exposure to chemicals in the workplace, and no family history of bladder cancer.

How common would bladder cancer be in such a patient?

Probably the likelihood is low, but it's totally subjective.

If you are worried, it would be best to bring concerns to your doctor and have testing done to rule it out and see if there is anything else going on...to ease your worries.

    q

Have you had any testing done?

I've had about 6 urinalyses in the past 2 years. The first 2 and the most recent 2 showed traces of blood, and the middle 2 did not. None of the urinalyses showed any blood cells on microscopy. That tells me the blood is hemolyzed, which makes me wonder if it is coming from the bladder at all.

I doubt it is coming from my kidneys either: No protein in urine, and blood tests have consistently showed normal kidney function. On top of that, I had an ultrasound last year for a different reason, and it showed normal kidneys.

The reason I'm asking all this is that at my work physical, the occupational doctor said that this is most likely benign cause, but suggested I go see a urologist. I'm wondering if I should even bother, as based on my own research, it seems highly unlikely to be anything serious. I'm asking on here in case anyone else may have insight to offer.
