Annie, I know just how you felt with the bad nusing while in the hospital, I had the same thing with my complications after my hysterectomy, that's when I ended up with the hematoma, and I was blocked up in my colon, and couldn't pee besides...It was a nightmare!!!

It would be a good idea to see a diff. OB, and do go to a good specialist in urology, it might make a world of diff. to see someone who cares enough to help. There are some caring doctors, you just have to keep looking. It's awful you have to be your own advacate when you feel so rotton right now. If I were you, when you fill out that form about how you were treated in the hospital....to make a couple of copies of the letter you write...send one to the administrator, and keep one for yourself. Also, request all the inforamtion from the hospital on file, you'll need to sign a form for them...Very important you do this, the next doctor you see will want to see this. Make copies of those too.

You'll be amazed on what you read in those files!!! All the doctors comments on your recovery should be in there, Tell them you want anyfile there is about you. You can request the ones from the clinic too, if that is a separate place.

Did you end up with a yeast infection? Can't remember if you said you did or not.

Have you ever tried taking Magnessium citrate the water soluble kind, I take it for bladder spasms and colon pain, along with muscle pain. It can help you sleep better too. I take 200mgs with evening meal. Some times I take it with breakfast too, but it makes me sleepy. If my upper back is sore, it helps alot without having to take pain med. it relaxes the muscles. Make sure you eat something with it though.

Sounds like that first week back to work has been pretty rough. What was the reason for going to the ER? Pain?

I hope you can feel better soon. And you can find a new OB, and Urologist. Good luck, my thoughts will be with you......Diana

    http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/yawn.gif Hi Diana!
Whew!! Am I tired!! I was glad to start work again, but did'nt expect them to be as busy as they were when I left 2 months ago. My customers were so glad to see me, which made it worth it. I did fill out a survey the hospital sent me. I wrote on every line and blank space. The head lady of the floor called me. She sent me a "sorry" card along with 2 movie passes to a theater in town. I did make a difference I found out because the next time I had to go for my vanco infusions the head nurse came to every room and asked how was the treatment they were receiving. When she came to my room, she told me because of my survey, it is standard from now on to check each patient for comments. I think I will try the mag. cit. Sounds like something I should take. I was in the hospt. again in the ER because I was having terrible pain. The dr. in the Er did'nt want to touch me because of all the complications I had had in the past 2 months. Well, I just got in from work and I am tired. I will post again tomorrow if you write me back. Nice to here from you, take care. Annie

Annie, what the heck is a vanco infustion??? I'm so glad to hear you made a diff. now wasn't that worth the time and effort...GOOD FOR YOU!!!
Now you just need to get well. I hope that magnessium helps, along with the water, and the sea/salts with minerals. Did you ever check out the hepatisis 'c' board and read the facts about Mineral Sea/Salt? The post is called~living w/out treatment...cherish. I think I mentioned it before.

I remember going back to work after my so called recovery, it took for ever till it didn't feel like my insides weren't hanging out the bottom. Even the bones ached. I wish I'd known about the Mag. citrate then! Might of given my some relief.

I took my Mom in for cateract surgery today, it went well. It was an outpatient thing. Tomorrow, is the post op check up. Then I'll take her grocery shopping, she loves to snoop.
It's been a long day today, I was up at 4:15 am. Way too early for me.haha

When I read your post I just had to reply and tell you, YOU DID A GREAT JOB!!!! Now only if they had a comment paper to fill out on the doctors treament too. That's the one I'd send to the adinistrators office. What do you think? Maybe when you up to it? Take Care and thanks for telling me the great news. A/F Diana

    Diana,
Vanco is short for Vancomycin. An antibiotic. It is usually given through an IV, which they call an infusion. Since the other 5 antibiotics weren't working, the Vancomycin was my only hope. Sounds like you are close to your mother. So am I. I think on my next visit with my doctor (OB), I will tell him respectfully I will no longer be seeing him. Politely ask for my medical records. I am going to explain to him that I would feel more comfortable with a female OB. I feel that she could at this point relate with my health issues. I am ready to move on and get on with my life more than anything. The holidays are going to be here soon!! Can you believe it!! Well, listen, I am going to go to the drug store and find this mag. cit.!
    Thanks for the encourgement, Annie.

Annie, if you just call the hospital and ask for the medical records dept. they will send you a form to sign, then send the records directly to you. This way you can read them. The doctor hasn't got any authorization to give them to you. Only the records dept. can do that, with you signature.

I had to go to a health place to find the mag. citrate. The Drug stores here didn't have it. Did you start with the salt twice a day yet? It really helps replace the minerals.

My moms Post Op appt. went well. I was doing running all day yesterday. Now I have to catch up here at home. I have to work a booth all day on Saturday. It's a festival about 40 some miles from here. So I'd better get going on something here at home, the laundry is growing, and I have to paint the back of the garage yet, I did already prime it. The bummer is the bee's. I have to bring the hair spray out there with me, if they come around it just give them a shot of that and it make their wings sticky so they take off pretty fast. I've been stung in the fall before, man does that hurt!!!!

Well take care, and I hope this week goes better for you at work.

    Bye for now. Diana

Well I finished the first coat of paint on the garage last week, and the booth at the ethnic fest went well. I'm glad thats over with... I still need another coat of paint on the garage yet. I took me 5hrs. to do what I did. And with this cold/flu thing I've got, it's been a struggle to get anything done. This weekend is another booth promotion here in town, at least it'll be less hectic than last weekend.
My daughter has away games twice this week. If I feel up to it I'll be going with my hubby. I've got some other things to get done at home too. I wish I had some energy!!! Talk about sickening. This cold/flu thing has been hanging on for about 3 weeks if not longer.

How are things going healthwise for you? Are you feeling any better yet. It must be awful. I remember when I had all those problems after surgery, it took forever to get over it. Are you still having to go into the hosp. for the IV anti-biotics? Icky stuff, but what do you do. You can't just let the infection gain control.

Did you notice I have a habit of dropping my r's in your, and my s's on other words? I do it alot, so just remember that.lol. I don't know why, but I do it all the time.

Well I have to get some more laundry done, talk to you later. Diana

    Hello Diana,
I go to a general surgeon next month. I have to get off all meds until then. The only thing I can have is pain meds if needed. He is going to do some testing, what kind, I don't know. I am still having really bad pain in the groin area. You have a cold/flu thing going on huh. It has already started around this area also. I hope you feel better soon. Sounds like you are super busy! Feels good to be needed though doesn't it. Work is going ok. I got my med records from the hostpital. I am not sure I told you or not. I found out that the dr. removed my cervix. I was told he was just going to remove my uterus. He said possibly my ovaries. He told me nothing about my cervix. I am so upset. They (dr.'s) can do this vag. hyst. without taking out your cervix. There was nothing wrong with it. oh,boy! What a mess!!lol. I do have that sea salt and was using it. I also got the mag. cit. When I started having more of those pains in my groin, my family dr. referred me to a general surgeon. The nurse called me and told me to quit all otc and other meds until I see him. This dr. is experienced in complcations one can experience after surgeries. Hmmmm. Well, I will go and see what he says. Hey, did you notice after your hyst. surgery that you had problems with bowle movements? Or did you already have IBS before surgery? I was just wondering if the surgery could have caused that. I am having trouble now with that. Oh my GOD!! The pain I have trying to pass a bowel now is horrible sometimes. I cramp before and break out into a sweat and then I have trouble passing stool!! Just wondering. Write soon. Take care of you cold/flu!!! I will be thinking of you and hoping you get better. Darn it!! Winter isn't here yet!! Quit getting colds!! lol. Your friend, Annie

Now Annie, water and sea salt is food not over the counter drugs...K. eat a bananna once a day, or one glass of OJ, to replace the potassium. The Magnessium is in pill form yet, but is a natual nutrient your body needs too. Maybe a food with this in it would be advisable at this time. I am soooo glad you are going to someone who may help!!!! And yes this surgery really messed up my bowels, it got sooo bad I can't go with out the powder fiber and klenz tea. I mean they completely quit working all together. You at least are armed with some info. at this critical time, I went for two years with the problem before something was done. It was awful. Hopefully you can address this too with your new doctor. And about the cervix? yes they took mine too, but at the time I didn't want anything in there that could possibly make the tumors grow again. When I had my first tumor removed the doc. took my appendix out, he said it wasn't needed, and with out my permission. Not even my hubby's I thought that was a bit forward of him. Who now's what that organ really does for the body. I know just how you feel, when they yank out something with out discussing it first. I just wanted to reply to your post, but I need to go to bed again. I just go when I can to rest up for the daytime. I feel better symtom wise with this cold but all of a sudden I get exhausted. Great!! Not!!

Take Care, Annie, let me know how everything is going, p.s. I would still do the water and take the salt, along with eating what was good for you. That is not over the counter in my book. You colon is going to be so messed up otherwise. Take it from someone who's been there, please. Diana

Guess what!? I still have the staph infection! I went for my routine appt. with my urologist and I was feeling terrible. The first thing they do is an urinalysis. Of course. And they found that the Vancomycin didn't work. I have to get back on Macrodantin. I am so bummed. I can do the salt. I just couldn't do the mag.cit. I can get it from foods though. I am not sure their reasoning in it. I figure anything to help the body should be right. Expecially, naturally!! Thanks for the info on the IBS. I am going to try that new stuff, Benefiber. My mom said it was really helpful to her. And you can't taste it in your foods and tea. I will chat at you later. This is my late night at work. Take care! Annie

I wrote you a realllllly long post the other day when I had time, and guess what...I hit the clear button instead of the 'submit reply' button. I was bummed oh, well.

I found an interesting tidbit on urinary tract infections, there's something called 'D-mannose' it's a type of natural sugar substance, it works like this: instead of killing the bacteria...it simply unsticks the buggers from the walls of the kidneys and bladder. The germs apparently can't hang on. So the simply get flushed out!!! Weird huh!! I'm not sure if there would be any type of reaction to anything else, but I would think,...it's sugar right? I mean, we eat that other junk all day...right? I have know clue where to get it. Maybe a search on the web or something. Might be worth a shot to at least see if you can come up with some info.

Here's a joke to cheer you, I got a chuckle from it.

Three old ladies named Carol, Nancy and Kathy were sitting on a park
bench having a quiet conversation, when a flasher approached from across the park. The flasher came up to the ladies, stood right in front of them and opened his trench coat. Nancy immediately had a stroke. Then
    Kathy
also had a stroke. But Carol, being older and more feeble, couldn't reach that far.

Well, take care and write back, sorry it's taking so long for me to respond these days. Diana

LOL, Diana!!! You are bad. Hey, thanks. I will do some research on that!! I hope things have been going well for you. It's been 6 days on the macrodantin. I go in on Wed. to my family dr. to check to see if it is gone. I do not see how that D-Mannose would hurt either. I am going to ask my pharmacist. I bet he would know. He knows just about everything. Here is one for you: 2 boys walk into a pharmacy. They pick out a box of tampons. They walk to the counter. The pharmasist says " how old are you?" the boy replied, 7. The pharmasist says "do you know what these are?" Yes. They are not for me though, they are for my 4 yr. old brother. On the commerical they said you could ride bikes, and swim with these, he doesn't know how to do these things so we thought we would get this for him. He, He. Chat at you later!!! Annie

out of the mouths of babes, lol pretty good one. Yes my cold seems to be doing better lately. I have been so lax on writing, sorry. I have been really busy running, we have company coming this weekend. They're really fun people, so I'm looking forward to it. Hey, how about that chic in Indiana caught beating her child!! Was that awful or what!!! I hope you can find the D-mannose, if it were me I'd try it. But that's me.lol. It's getting really late, or maybe it just feels like it. Had another long day today. I've just got to go to bed. Maybe next week I can write you a real post, the rest of this week will be hectic. And I've got to find time to clean out a few corners, and wash bedding for the company we're getting. I like to get your posts, keep me updated on your progress, and just the daily things too. Take care, Diana

    Question

I know that you said you had a bad expeience with this but I was wondering what was happeneing that you knew that your bladder was falling? I had a pap 1 year after my hyster. and the doctor told me that it looked to be falling now a year and a half later and I haven;t been back to see him I know I should but I am woried about another surgery. I did really well with the hyster. surgery but now with you storie I really don[t want to go back..LOL

So I guess if you couldd tell me what symptoms I would be having if this is getting worse that would be helpful.
    Thank you,
    Nicole

    Dear Cord's Mom,
Thanks for your reply. From research I have learned that once you have a hysterectomy the percentage rate on having a fallen bladder is high. In my particular case the dr.'s said it was due to a prolapsed uterus. I was told by both dr.'s that since I was having a hysterectomy it would be "beneficial to my health" to have the sling procudure done at the same time. LOL at hind sight. But keep in mind, everyone is different, and I had two major surgeries at the same time. I do hope you will research and ask alot of questions! Like, will you be suseptable to UTI'S? What type of procudure will you have done? What kind of materials will be used? What is the sucess rate of the dr. doing the sugery? Is this your only alternative? There are alot of questions I wish I had known to ask. I did however ask some of these and was told that "it would improve my quality of life". I suffered from incont. I could'nt even play basketball with my son without leaking spontanously. Sneeze, well, I had to cross my legs to keep myself from wetting on myself. Everyone is different. I am sorry I have scared you. Your surgery, if you decide to have it, may turn out great! I just hope yours is an "informed decision". Ask, ask, ask, all the questions you want to your doctor. Get a second opinion. Definately, get a second opinion. From a doctor that is in a different area. I will have a lifetime of complations due to this surgery. But you do not have to with being more informed than I was. Please make your decision based on an informed one. There are good surgeons out there. Hey, if you find one, let me know!! Just kidding. Look for the best in your area. Find out from the doctor how many sucessful surgeries he has done with this procudure. Right now, I still have UTI's. I might have to have mine removed. Or something else done. I am not sure. I will find out next week. Get any info on the type of procudure the dr. wants to do. Tell him you want answers to your questions. A "good" doctor won't mind your asking. I really hope I have helped. I don't want to scare anyone. As we all heal differently. I also, keep in mind, contracted a bad, bad, staph infection due to these surgeries. And like I said, having 2 at the same time really put a toll on my body. The dr.'s I had should have know better. I wish you all the luck. Seek the knowledge, it will give you the power!! Maybe my friend Diana can help shed some light on this too. She will be back next week. She has been a great shoulder for me! Best of luck. Annie.

Thank you so much for the advice. I do have a very trusting GYN. and I would trust him to do the surgery. As for the Urologist I seen I did not care for him at all. I also have the problem with the snezzing, or coughing and it has been getting so much worse. I hate that. I had a complete hyster. so I don't have anything left in there. So I guess I can see how it could fall over time. Again thank you so much this has really helped me.

I wish you good luck with your problems you are expeninceing I hope you get well soon,
    Nicole
