    Re: Bladder Sling/UTI

dear annie13. my name is mindy i had the exact same procedure done that you had. i had a hysterectomy with assisted laproscopy and a bladder sling was put under my bladder.before i had the sling i only had frequent urination and now i have accidents all the time i have to go at least 20 to 25 times a day,and i have constant lower abdominal pain. the dr that performed the surgery sent me home from the hospital with either a bladder infection or a uti! had to call him the day after i got home to get me on medicine. i have been on bartrim, ciproand urocholine. nothing has worked and now i think i have a uti again. i had my surgery on august 13 2004 and it has been a nightmare ever since. do these drs know what they are doing? i have pulled all my medical records from the drs office that did the procedure. i dont trust him to touch me again. now i have to go to a urologist and have him decide what the next route is. i have already been told that i may have to go in for another surgery because they think that the hammock has been tied to tight. annie did you also have problems after the surgery where it did not feel like your muscles were strong enough to hold urination back anymore?this is another problem i am going through. have you conntacted a good lawyer? I HAVE! and they think i have a case. please respond to this letter i really need to find some one that i can talk to about this iam to young for this to be happening to me o rany of us. thank you for your time mindy29

I went through the almost the same thing in 1997 when I had the bladder sling surgery. I know that it is difficult, but hang in there. Staph infections are hard to get rid of, but once it is gone, you will be very happy with the results. My heart goes out to you on this because I know what you are going through. Sometime the doctors have to alternate the antibotics back to back. Don't get discouraged. It will work out in the end.

Take care and God Bless ,

    Re: Bladder Sling/UTI

Annie, I hope you are still available to help me. I saw all of your post, and I am having major problems from a bladder sling operation performed in 1999.
The Dr. stitched it to high and I was unable to stand up straight (I could barely walk) for 3 weeks. I lived on painkillers and my husband had to help me get out of bed to use the bathroom. After 3 weeks of this, the Dr. decides guess we will have to cut that side loose, there is nothing else to do about it.
Now, 7 years later I have had nothing but problems, and more problems. I have been having pain and what felt like a UTI. My OB Dr. thought I might have IC. He sent me to see an Urologist specialist last week and he said it was the plastic left in me when the bladder sling was cut loose. Now, I have to have surgery to remove this obstruction because it is scraping my bladder and causing all the pain, and making me have IC symptoms. Do you know if the 1st Dr. should have removed the plastic when he cut the sling loose? What ever happened in your case? How are you after all this time? I hope to hear from you.
