    Bladder lift

I need a question answered and don't know who to ask. Maybe someone here can answer it for me.
I had a bladder lift, (not sure what it's called) in 1999 when a type of plastic was used to lift the bladder up.
Questions: (1) I would like the name of the operation?

    (2) If the plastic clips should be left inside you
when the plastic holding up the bladder had
    to be cut loose?

Thanks in advance for any help.

There are different types of bladder suspension surgeries...it sounds like you had a sling procedure, where a sling is placed under your bladder to hold it up. I don't think the plastic (or whatever material was used) is ever removed until you need to have the sling (or hammock) redone. My sister had the sling procedure and it didn't work, so she later had the Burch procedure, and now she seems to be doing fine. You can look these up on the internet to get more detailed info.

It is possible you had a TVT sling, I had one & had to have it removed as it had turned & had sliced into my vaginal wall and urethra. They didn't actually "remove" it as it eventually becomes part of the bladder & would become a much more complicated surgery, instead they cut away the area that was causing the problem but left the rest in place.
