    Waiting

I am not sure how to start this post. I do not want to sound like a whiner when I know many are dealing with health issues much greater than mine at this particular moment. I found a new thickening lump in my breast at the beginning of Dec. I called my OBgyn and they would not get me in until JAN 20th!! I didn't think waiting that long was wise, so I made an appt with my GP and they referred me to get a diagnostic mammo w US. When I called to make that appt, they wanted me to wait another 3 weeks! I called everyday until a cancelation came up. Got the test done and there is a suspicious "lesion" that needs to be biopsied along with a lymph node that looks plump. I had a clear mammo in Feb. This happened Dec 19. I am still waiting for a biopsy and will not get one until the 6th of Jan. I know in the scheme of things, 3 weeks isnt that long, but what if this IS cancer and we have just let it fester in my body for three more weeks. More than that, mentally I am not doing well. I almost feel as if this is an inhumane practice. Everyday now I have a new symptom pop up and I cannot focus on anything else. I feel like there needs to be an overhaul on how we treat people facing a severe diagnosis. I feel like I am being tortured. If I knew what was going on, I could face it. Anyway, I hope this note finds you well and in good health. I had to get this off my chest because I woke up to the New year anxious and worried for the future.

Try not to worry...it won't help. I just went through this too...a few weeks isn't going to make a difference, but it will drive you nuts.

My lump turned out to be a cyst, but waiting to have it biopsied was not fun...just keep yourself distracted as best as you can and keep calling to see if they have any cancellations.

    Good luck!

    Re: Waiting

Thank you! I do feel like it is a form of torture. I wake up every morning and then "remember" what looms over me. Symptoms keep popping up. I think I am getting sick and I have a few painful nodes that popped up under my chin. I have fooled with them so much I am sure they are twice the size they would have been. Thanks for the encouragement.
