Fine needle aspiration question

well I had mine and no it wasnt painfull at all .. they used a local but i dont think I really even needed that .. for me the FNA didnt work so now i need to have a Core biopsy

Thank you that is very comforting. So why didn't it work. Couldn't get enough tissue? Or it simply showed atypical cells? I'm very glad to hear you respond that it went ok. Even the shot for the local didn't hurt bad? NOW you have to come back and update about the core biopsy in case I move there next. I'm not sure what a category 1 lump is. They didn't call mine anything I could easily see the spot on the xray.....but they said they "thought" it was just a lymph node. As we talk, under that L underarm I currently have a lump, I assume is a lymph node and its hurting so makes me kinda nervous. Did you have any labs done? Like a CBC? I didn't at the breast place just at my regular dr.

when i had the FNA they wern't able to get any cells . I sort of thought they didnt when the Dr who did the FNA had finished said to me "if we were unable to get any cells you will need to come back to have a core biopsy .. i see the specialist at the breast clinic tomorrow so I should hear more of what goes on from here

Cool, well not cool, but you know what I mean. Can you come back on tomorrow night and let me know whats goin on? You are one step ahead of me so I like to be prepared!

Hi had the core biopsy today wasn't too bad didn't hurt either .. Like with the FNA I was given a local . They then use a needle guide its a needle that they thread the core biopsy needle through .. They use a ultrasound to line the guide needle up then place the core thingy through the guide while watching it under ultrasound to make sure its aimed at the lump then they fire off a needle like a tiny harpoon lol it grabs a tiny slither of cells and then they pull it out and put it on slides .. But it dosen't hurt at all as the local started to wear off it stung but still wasn't painful .. Hope this explains it a bit for you ?
