What else can make the test ( HEMOCCULT ICT OR THE IMMUNOCHEMICAL TEST ) positive for blood in the stool. My husband had one done 3 different days 3 separate cards, the first two had blood the third one was negative.

False positives and false negatives happen all the time with a FIT test. The only true 100% accurate test is a colonoscopy... have him talk to his GI doctor about moving things that direction.

Unfortunately the medical marketing community touts FIT and other tests as the first step in colon cancer prevention, but they are really just tests for people who refuse the colonoscopy- make him get one and possibly save his life.

Ive lose 4 family members to colon cancer; its the single most preventable cancer...the colonoscopy could have saved my father and brother. Not getting one is a bad idea.

    Thank you for your replay.
Colonoscopy probably saved my life and I have to have them at least every 5 years ( all started 20 years ago ). He will get one after this ( unfortunately I couldn't make him go before ), but I would like to hear from people who experienced having a blood in their stool on the occult blood test, but ending ( luckily ) not having a cancer. What can be a cause ?

About colonoscopy being a 100 percent accurate ? I don't believe that , bc that procedure depends on many factors too and there are cases proving otherwise but that's another story.

Hemorrhoids are a common cause of blood. The colonoscopy is worth it even if it's just for the peace of mind.
