| Here we go again for third time
Well,
Despite 3 years ago having a negative virtual colonoscopy I am now back with severe bowel problems, weight loss and the usual big C symptoms.
Jeeps if the upcoming colonoscopy shows shows something nasty this will be the third time after two previous resections.
5 years post original radical resection And clear FOBT as well as colonoscopy a year later diagnosed again with mass on at the original site.
Following robotic surgery was left with the minima colon that allowed reasonably normal function.
3 years later a virtual CT colonoscopy which sowed no negatives.
Now back on the magic roundabout

Hi John, hope you and family are OK.
Tests revealed or isn’t the big C, but diverticulosis.
Which according to consultant could if it progresses further result in a ostomy.
Anne is considerably worse but we still battle on.
Lynne has had a operation to remove her gall bladder, thankfully going very well.
Only downside is the latest MRI indicates some changes, quite what I don’t know as yet.
They want to do another TRUS, which given my history of ending up with Sepsis I’m disinclined to go ahead.
Something I’ll talk to the specialist when he calls this Friday.

Hi, whilst its good to see your update, sorry to read the roller coaster continues and that Anne has had no respite, hope Lynne makes a speedy recovery and pass my best wishes on please when you next catch up with here.
We have managed to stay safe so far and are being cautious, I had an ENT scope recently and gastro next so will see if I need to be concerned or not, I then will have the full set of scoping experiences, oh joy!

John, turned out to be Diverticulosis, as far as I’m concerned it has the same symptoms as my previous bouts with Colon cancer.
Anne is struggling and to be frank so am I, Nuff said.
Prostate cancer has been stable until the last MRI, now a template biopsy on the 9th, another one. Yikes with my previous history of any invasive procedure developed into Sepsis.
Lynne has made a good and speedy recovery.
Anyway, we shall see in due course the biopsy results.
Recall my old Israely consultant Lempke he’s now moved on.
New one is called Simon.
Exactly same name as my son.
Take care

Thanks Sparkle please you show NED great news.
John, not bragging in any way, I’ve had the lot both top and bottom and midway.
Did they give you throat spray which tastes like rotten banana ?,
Glad you are the family are staying safe as we are here.
Wednesday looms.
Good news is they seem to taking no chances as instead of the 2 tablets of Ciporfrofloxacin normally supplied ive been on them for a full week.
We shall have to see what is the outcome.
Take care all

Something I’ll talk to the specialist when he calls this Friday. | What type of anti-biotics do they prescribe prior to the TRUS?
What about High powered IV anti-biotics?
These are possibilities that could reduce the likelyhood of sepsis.

Hi, no spray as it was ENT, just wham bang thank you, and gastro have said they won't see me and have sent me back to ENT, GP trying hard to sort something out so will see what happens as the NHS black hole looms!

Ciprofloxacin.
Normally you get 1 or 2 tablets.
I’m my case it was two tablets for 7 days prior and 4 days post procedure.
This regimen was prescribed due to my two episodes of sepsis following biopsies.
Latest is my hospital has stopped all TRUS biopsies due to the elevated level of infection they noted.
Now it is all trans perineal biopsies of on many cases they use either specific MRI or CT procedures.

Hi Barry, all was well on my front until just before new year when I had a TIA and ended up spending a day at hospital, fortunately recovered after about 10 days and whilst initial scan did not show the reason I have an MRI soon so hopefully that may shed some light on things.
Did the biopsy go ahead or are you still waiting? you certainly don't want the risk of more infections given what's gone before.
regards to all and hope everyone is coping with these strange times, cannot wait till its safe to get a break away from this turmoil.
