Unhappy barrium enema after a perirrectal obscess

Hi my dad went to the hospital 2 weeks ago because he was not eating well like for 3 weeks and he had constipation also so they put him on the CT scan and they found a perirrectal abscess so they kept him on the hospital with antibiotics and next day they did a surgery to remove the rectal abscess because he had infection but my concern is why are they also doing the barium enema for on the paper that they gave him on the hospital it says pt. Needs b.e to rule out cancer do you guys think there doing it just to rule out or is it because they found cancer on his rectum or colon do you guys think that if he would of have had cancer the CAT Scan would of detected already does CT scan detects all type of cancer please help me i am sorry my english is not that good.
