Unhappy kidney cancer

I would like to hear from people about what my dad has to expect from outside cancer in both kidneys and inside cancer in his left kidney. He has decided no surgery or treatments and he is on Hospice care. He has had no symptoms for 3 years except for blood in his urine. But now I suspect it has spread to his bladder because he is having burning when urinating, frequent urination and sudden urge to urinate. I am wondering if he is going to have to face pain, seizures, weakness, etc. Any information you can give me I would appreciate so much. He is 80 years old and lives by himself (mom died of Parkinson's in March 2002).

I'm sorry to hear about your dad's cancer. Sounds like he has a UTI, has his urine been tested? If not it should be, you gave every sympton of urinary tract infection. If he has one, left unattended, he will get seriouly ill from that.
Good luck

Question

Thank you for responding. My dad's urine was checked right away when he first started having these symptoms and it came back negative.

Suggest you visit the cancer.gov site for more information on his specific cancer.

This site also has links to cancer clinical trials and various other cancer resources.

Good luck,
Jay

Thumbs up

Hi, Tara.

Check out "bevacizumab" (antiangiogenesis class of drugs) at the address above from Jay. Just-released results of clinical trials indicate it shows promise in treatment of advanced metastatic kidney cancer. Hope this helps. Best of luck to you.

Marykate
