hi again haylee....i've a question for ya.
about 4 days ago i noticed that my upper back pain (between shoulder blades) was a lil worse than normal (ive mild scoliosis) and i reached back and noticed a big lump right on top of my upper spine. Ive been pondering ever since and then today i reread one of ur posts and a lightbulb went off.
anways, i went to urgent care because i was unsure if i had injured my spine or something and didnt really wanna hold off being thats such a critical part of body. she told me she thought it was a cluster of lymph nodes.
Now, its very hard, this lump. i mean hard, as in hard as bone. and its jagged. just doesnt seem to fit how a lymph node would feel. its about 2-3 inches wide and about the same in length. today i noticed its gone up a lil further on my neck. it all starts right between shoulder blades and almost even with my neckline, sltho its creeping further up my neck. the bottom part of it is wider than my spine.
im tired of these probs.
anyways, i know its not muscle. but i thought about you and the problem ur husband had. does any of this sound like the problem he had? and did he seem to have one problem after another like this? she did blood work and it came out ok, but what the heck would this lump be, even if its lymph nodes isnt that kinda a weird spot to have em flare up and why there?
thanks for any input.

Re: haylee31??

Hi there, With my hubby's his was under his jaw

but did grow larger and longer. It went back to his ear

and even made his ear lobe bulge out. He wanted me to

ask you if its tender to touch? Also have you been having

fevers? I know my youngest daughter had mono last Sept.

and she had a lymph node on the back of her neck swell

about the size of a quarter. My husbands was not round

either kinda odd shaped and it got so big outwards it was

baseball sized if not bigger and length it went from his

ear almost to his chin. He did seem to have one problem

after another thought we would never get an answer. I

think the doctors drug it out way to long. When is your

next doctor appt.? I think seeing a speacalist is the best

answer. The ER doc and two clinic doctors got us know

were it was only when we seen the surgeon that the

problem was getting fixed. Good luck and plz keep me

updated will be thinking about ya. Haylee

Re: haylee31??

Hi sarah, I'm sorry to hear that you have cancer. I don't know a whole lot about the cancers that these darned cigerettes we smoke cause but i know after coming to these boards for the past month i'm not too quick on wanting to light one up, i've been 2 packs a day for 14 years. What stage are you in and are you receiving treatment? I feel for you and i hope you do better! I'll be thinking about ya
Yes, it's tender if you like push on it. I havent had fevers really, i did before the lump appeared but as you know i've been sick so its hard to tell what is what now. The same day that i noticed the lump i had hacked up blood again but only once and i havent had it since then. I go back on the 19th (with my pulmonologist) a few weeks yet. The ER doc had set me up for an appointment with an internalist (internal medicine??) for the 4th but its a 2 hour drive and im unsure if i will go. I'm not to trusting of the doctors there so i'm not sure yet. I had thought to myself that if the lump is still I'll go if its gone i won't go, tired of docs i feel like i live there lol.
I have noticed in the morning that when i go to bend my head down i feel a big pressure at that site, i suppose cuz its sitting right on my spine, or so it feels like anyways. Funny you mentioned mono, my mom did when we were at the urgent care. I havent had fevers or anything tho. more thing to chalk up to the list i guess. But yes it is tender if you push on it. Mine isnt as big as your hubbies but you explained it and thats about how mine is also, so maybe this is just something like he had. Thanks for replying i knew you had a very similar thing happen with hubby

Re: haylee31??

Hi Sarah, You did just fine posting if you want

to start your own topic to get replys just click the start a

new thread. You then will get replys from ppl who may be

able to help you more than myself. I do not know alot

about lung cancer. I did lose both of my parents to lung

cancer and had a recent scare with my husband. I am very

sorry to hear you are going through this. I am not sure

how you send personal messages or if you can. I would

like to send ya one if possible. I will check into it and see

if I can do this. Always& confused, I know that lymph

nodes that are tender is a good thing. The doctor told us

painless lymph nodes are more likely to be cancerous.

His being infection had him running high fevers several

nights a week. I think its wrong how long you have to

wait to get into the polmonologist seems they could get

people in quicker. We did not have to wait very long to

get in to the doctors are wait was the doctor himself

dragging us along for weeks before he even got us in to

see the surgeon. Once he finaly told us he needed a

surgeon we only had to wait 1 week to see him. You said

you feel pressure hubby did as well. His became so tight

thought it was going to explode along with that came

headaches, ear aches, toothaches and he even had a

seizure. His was pushing against his jugular vein and

nerves causing the other symptoms. Dont know if I ever

asked you or not but have they tested you for TB? They

tested my husband as soon as they found the nodule on

his lung. I know coughing up blood and enlarged nodes

plus nodules are symptoms of TB. Keep me updated and

I am really sorry you have to wait so long. Haylee

Re: haylee31??

ive had extreme headaches at night, i guess i just chalked it up to everything that has been going on. My shoulders hurt also and my hands will tingle. Yeah i wish theyd stop making me wait so long, it drives a person nutso. I had heard sore areas are better than no pain, cancer isnt supposed to hurt from what i understand. The shoulder pain has been happening since oh about a month now, so a few weeks before the lumps. The doc has never mentioned TB although ive thought about that also, well ive thought about all the possiblities lol. Ive been hacking up nasty brown stuff that was supposed to get better from these meds they had me on but theres no change, some days are worse than others with it. I think they keep making me wait to give the meds to work or whatever but ive been off of them for awhile now with no change. im only 28 and i feel like ive got the body of a 80 year old LOL.

Re: haylee31??

When my husband went to the ER when this all began.

The doc put him on keflex and it did nothing for him. He

is on two very strong antibiotics now but even with them

he went to the surgeons again this past Thurs. and he is

still full of infection in his neck. The huge lump is gone

and he feels alot better. The doctor still drained 2 more

containers of gross gunk from his neck. He is still on the

2 strong antibiotics and goes back in two weeks to see if

the antibiotics will kick in. If you are having swelling in

the lypmh nodes my husband said motrin helped him

some. Was not a huge difference but gave him some relief.

Shoulder pain from what I understand can be related to

lung problems. My mom had lung cancer and had alot of

shoulder pains and her doctor pulmonologist said that

was not un-common. There are other things that can cause

shoulder pains like tendinitis, bursitis, pulled muscle etc...

keep me updated. Haylee

Re: haylee31??

thanks haylee, i've been popping some prescription pain killers and it helps with the indirect pain. I had also heard that about lung cancer when i typed in shoulder pain. you'd have thought they'd have seen that on the cat scan though. Unless that nodule is malignant? who knows, ill find out on the 19th what they will do. Ill be thinking about you and your hubby and i hope his problems go away also!

Re: haylee31??

When I investigated about nodules after they found one

in my husband it states 90% are benign. I know some

circumstances can change those odds some. Like age,

being a smoker, were you live and even says more likely

to be malignant in males. I think your odds are really

good this to be infection. My hubby had all odds against

him other than living in Ohio were nodules are more

common and his was infection. Haylee
