Does anyone have a loved one who has mesothelioma or had this horrible disease and would like to share some of their stories. My father passed away on November 9, 2006 after suffering for a entire year. My family is devastated and we are trying to cope with our loss.

Re: Mesothelioma

Hello Sunshine,
If you search under mesothelioma on this site you will find that there are quite a few of us with loved ones who have this condition. My own father has had it for 11 months now. He has been taking some alternative therapy and I think that it is working for him, but if you're able to do so it would help me, and others, to know what symptoms and treatment your dad had to endure during his final year.

Many thanks

Re: Mesothelioma

Hello Gary,

My father's first symptom was fluid in his right lung. After having the fluid drained, a biopsy of the lung confirmed that he had mesothelioma. He was told that it was the early stages and that the protocol was chemo, removal of the lung and then radiation. Basically, after having his entire lung removed he was never the same. He had pain on a daily basis, loss of appetite, weight loss, very sleepy, lethargic, angry, etc... Generally from month to month we noticed that he was getting worse. August 2006, we were told that the cancer spread to the lining of the heart sac, which caused some new problems. He had fluid again in the one lung and around the heart, rapid heart beat, chest pains, leg and feet swelling, stomach swelling. We started alternative medicine but the cancer was already too advanced. Now after learning about this disease, we would have never done the operation. My family believes that alternative medicine would have been a better choice for him from the very beginning. Now it's too late for us but I am praying that for you it will help in healing your father. Please keep me posted on his treatment and progress............
