Unhappy cough after chemo

My mom was diagnosed with nsclc stage 3b an Jan 4th. On Jan 17th she had her first chemo. The day after her chemo her cough got worse and it doesnt seem to stop. She is on codiene cough medicine but its not really helping. Has anyone come across the same situation? Will her cough eventually stop? I hope someone can give me some information..Thanks Jodi

Re: cough after chemo

Oddly enough my husband has never had that problem after going thru 4 lines of chemo, but they started his 5th line of chemo and maybe just a coincidence, but the day after chemo he got a cough and has been fighting it for the last 3 weeks. It is much better and it is the dry non productive, but at one point he had a bit of mucus. I am sure you have mentioned to the doctor? My husband is also very weak and his immune system is weakened from all the lines of chemo so we thought it was just due to all of that and not the chemo. Have you looked up the side effects of the chemo on the Internet? It is amazing what you can find on the Internet. I hope your mom is doing better and can get past the cough to stay strong during chemo!
