Sister Diagnosed with Stage 4 - what to expect
Hello Folks,
I have been reading this board for the past two weeks, since it was suspected that my sister Jackie had Lung Cancer. It has since been diagnosed - and today we got the results of the PT scan and found out it is Stage 4. It has metastasized in the bone, specifically in one side of the pelvis and within several of her vertebrae - a few L's and one or more C's. Some chest lymph nodes are affected, also. This is a total shock, as she had no symptoms at all until less than a month ago - when she started to get a cough.
My primary question is this - is the prognosis better if it has spread to bones, rather than to organs? We know that surgery is not an option and will find out early next week whether she will have to do chemo and/or radiation and to what extent.
She's only 49 - will turn 50 on 10/26. I'm so sad to know what she has in front of her and would like any feedback you may be able to offer - if you have knowledge of this particular diagnosis.
Thanks - and my very best to all the families and friends who are, like me, searching and researching the details on behalf of your loved ones.
