    Base of tongue lesion

My 57 yo husband had an incidental finding on a CT of a right base of tongue lesion, 24x18x26mm with enlarged right level IIa lymphnode 20mmx18mm and borderline left level IIa lymphnode. Nodes could be mets or reactive. ENT performed a flexible transnasal larygnoscopy but could not visualize. He noted one lingual tonsil larger than the other. We are waiting for a MRI on orbit, face, and neck.

Has anyone had a lesion that could not be directly visualized?
