    Diagnosing Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumor Early

This question is specifically for those who have survived PNET and is cancer-free or those who have had it diagnosed early or those who know someone like that:

From my knowledge, it's incredibly hard to diagnose PNET early or maybe even impossible, unless you have symptoms. There are no symptoms until the cancer has spread. But I know people have had it diagnosed early and went cancer-free, which means the cancer was found already before even having any symptoms. How did you or someone you know come across it and get it diagnosed early? Why would you have some kind of tests you may not usually have if you never had any symptoms?

My dad died recently from PNET and his only early symptoms are weight loss and high blood sugar. I suppose you could say there are actually early symptoms but nothing that would indicate anything serious because there's lots of reasons for your symptoms you have early in the cancer such as weight loss or high sugar. No one's going to right away think it's PNET once your blood sugar is high and there's many reasons you've lost weight without even trying to. I supposed this happened to my dad because he didn't look into the reason why he lost so much weight in a short time or why he was suddenly tired all the time. So this is why it's important to get a physical every year and see a doctor any time you have any unexplained symptoms. They only found the cancer because they did ultrasounds on the abdomen after he complained of pain and pain wasn't something he experienced til after the cancer has already spread.

But anyway... again, this question is for those who had PNET and are cancer free or someone who knows someone who had that happen to them.
